Abstract The report includes an analysis of existing web based viewers and an analysis of programming languages and development environments that can be useful in the development of a web based viewer. A result of the analysis is shown in a table where the most important parts of each viewer is represented. The table also includes our own web based viewer.The programming languages in our project are Visual Basic and ASP, where Visual Basic is used in the configurator and ASP on the server side.The functions that where added in the present Visual Basic application, the configurator, and the solution of the linking between the different applications on the server are described in the method.The result is a web based viewer which is able to read the Hoops Stream Format. To create hsf files the application communicates with the CAD software program SolidWorks 2003 which uses existing 3D CAD files to read and convert them to the hsf format. The viewer consists of an ActiveX component, Hoops 3D Stream Control. The ActiveX control is implemented with HTML and the function to view files dynamic in the viewer is created with ASP. To solve the problem with a plugin free web based can be read in the end of the report, it is presented as a future solution.
