Deconstructing Good and Evil: A feminist Reading of C.S. Lewis´ The Chronicles of Narnia
Halmstad University, School of Humanities (HUM).
2000 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]
The essay deconstructs the aspects of good and evil in C.S. Lewis´ The Chronicles of Narnia. By taking a closer look at the characters representing good and evil, the essay tries to turn the concepts of good and evil upside down. The feminist reading of the chronicles concentrates on showing traditional male-female roles. Although the girls in the books seem to share the same conditions as the boys, a deeper reading of certain events proves that this is not the case. The girls are presented as the stereotypical woman whose actions are decided by her emotions.
