Technical analysis: Can investors earn a higher profit by using a combination of four models.

Abstract [en]
Investors would like to know exactly when to buy and sell. Technical analysis is one method to predict share prices. It is based on the belief that there is a certain momentum in share prices, both upward and downvard, the only information that matters is historical share prices (and sometimes also volume). There are two kinds of technical analysis, visual and mathematical. The visual analyses show trends, and the mathematical models calculate buy and sell signals out of different formulas. The aim of this study is to find out if investors can earn higher profit by using a combination of the mathematical models; moving average stochastics, momentum and oscillator, and thereby earn a higher yield comparing to passivly own an identical portofolio during the same time.
