At the beginning of 1943, the Germans were under heavy pressure on several fronts. Onethreat was that the allies would invade Norway. This is partly to take control of iron deliveriesfrom Sweden to Germany. There were also fears that if the Allies attacked Norway, Swedenwould also attack Norway. There were also plans for this in the Swedish military.Therefore, the German general von Schell was asked to draw up an attack plan againstSweden. It was based on a lightning attack on five fronts. From the north: Trondheim againstÖstersund, Stuevollen against Östersund, Röros against Sundsvall, Trysil against Särna andMora and Trysil/Nybergsund against Malung. This plan was supposed to be launched in thelate summer of 1943, and a gathering of forces was also made with 25. armoured Division,which was at its strongest in the summer of 1943.
