Abstract [en]

Focus on Agile practices and applying its existing frameworks more relatively with modified approach has rarely been done in the context of small tech start-ups, because of the escalation of the global market competition in small tech start-ups. Established companies implement an agile in their existing workflows because of the static environment. In contrast, new entrants of small tech start-ups might struggle to find optimal practices in Agile to experience the best product development outputs from Agile, especially for software engineering. This dissertation analyses the impact of employing Agile methodologies on product development in small tech firms that heavily rely on Scrum or hybrid models. Combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Through surveying 46 Agile professionals and conducting interviews withspecialists from four start-ups based in Sweden and Sri Lanka. This study examines what are the key Agile principles, organizational contexts and mechanisms that might dominate in determining performance outcomes to enhance the pace of delivery, the quality of the product, and collaboration within the team. The suggested Agile Product Efficiency Framework strives to illustrate how the adoption of Agile practices can be framed within a start-up by clearly identifying small tech start up organisational aspects, team characteristics, and organizational policies and the work life performances. The results indicate that though Agile practices facilitate innovativeness and quick responsiveness, framing them within adaptation context and strong leadership ensures sustainable difference. This study provides both a theoretical lens and practical recommendations for effectively adapting Agile frameworks within the context of rapidly changing and limited resource start-up environment.
