Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
The Polysphincta genus group is a group of koinobiont ectoparasitic ichneumon wasps (Pimplinae) within the tribe Ephialtini that parasitize spiders. This study investigates the Swedish species using collected material from the Swedish Malaise Trap Project (SMTP) and the Swedish Insect Inventory Project (SIIP). The work focuses on species identification, taxonomic uncertainties and the Swedish distribution. Species identification was carried out using DNA sequencing and available literature. When comparing DNA sequences the mitochondrial COI gene was used. A new Swedish identification key is presented from the superfamily Ichneumonoidea down to species level for all known Swedish species with a complementary host table. The study shows that the distribution of the Polysphincta genus group in Sweden is more extensive than previously known. However, the level of knowledge remains poor for several provinces and taxonomic uncertainties still exist. This indicates that more work remains to fully understand the distribution and taxonomy of the Polysphincta genus group in Sweden.
