The project is carried out in collaboration with Saab Dynamics to investigate the installation of a device in a test prototype. A previous version of the device is already included in the current assembly. The new device has a changed geometrical interface and is of a different material.
The goal with the investigation is to explore where the device should be positioned and how the device should be installed in those positions. It is preferable if the installation can be completed without modifying any other components, due to the fact that most of the components in the assembly has already been manufactured.
The investigation utilizes the Double Diamond method and involves two separate phases, the first phase investigates position while the second phase investigates position and installation. The investigation utilizes blueprints, standards from Saab Dynamics, requirement lists, decision matrices, fastener strength and CAD.
The result is a concept that is sunken and rotated from the original position, and it’s installed with a bracket. The concept has a shifted center of gravity but satisfies all other demands that have been specified, such as hole distance, edge distance and being the easiest one to install out of the positions that have been explored.
