Abstract [en]

The study was performed with Abeco AB and is about developing a machine concept for automatic drilling and insertion of Snapfix fasteners into wooden mouldings. At present, certain steps in production are done manually, which leads to time-consuming adjustments that affect the company's efficiency in a negative way. The development started with a needs analysis and a technical specification, both of which were developed together with the company. Based on the requirements many different solution proposals were evaluated according to the criteria deemed most important by Abeco AB. A main concept was selected for further development. The main concept was modelled using a CAD-program 3DExperience, where both Part Design and Assembly Design were applied. With the help of modelling, the concept could be visualized and understood better. Many important details, as well as the selection and dimensions of components such as pneumatic cylinders, sensors and other mechanisms, were developed during this stage. Applying a simplified risk analysis, which consisted of a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), many design adjustments could be made to further develop the machine concept safety aspects, as well as to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
