I takt med artificiell intelligens (AI) accelererande utveckling, har integreringen av teknologin ökat i organisationers befintliga informationssystem (IS). Inom AI har generativ artificiell intelligens (GenAI) utvecklats, som under den senaste tiden fått mycket uppmärksamhet på grund av sin kognitiva förmåga. GenAI har potentialen att främja kreativitet, effektivitet och att automatisera arbetsuppgifter, därmed öppnar tekniken upp för nya användningsområden. Samtidigt medför GenAI nya utmaningar eftersom dynamiken samt interaktionen mellan människan och tekniken förändras. Tidigare studier har främst fokuserat på själva implementeringen av AI och inte effekterna som användarna upplever. Denna studie avser därmed att undersöka vilka utmaningar som användare upplever när de interagerar med GenAI-verktyg. Studien utgår från ett sociotekniskt perspektiv och tillämpar det teoretiska ramverket Socio-technical Systems Theory (STS), med fokus på samverkan mellan det tekniska och sociala systemet. Vidare har en kvalitativ forskningsansats tillämpats, där totalt tiosemistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med respondenter som nyttjar GenAI i sitt dagliga arbete. Det empiriska materialet har analyserats genom en tematisk analys samt studiens teoretiska ramverk. Studiens resultat visar att användare ofta upplever utmaningar när AI har integrerats i en organisation. Det resulterar i en upplevd socioteknisk obalans, vilket påverkar användarnas tillit, användning och acceptans avtekniken. Trots de identifierade utmaningarna visar resultatet att det finns en optimistisk och positiv inställning till vilka möjligheter AI och GenAI kan bidra med.

Abstract [en]

As artificial intelligence (AI) accelerates its development, the integration of the technology into organizations existing information systems (IS) has increased. Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), a type of artificial intelligence (AI), has recently received a lot of attention due to it’s cognitive capabilities. GenAI has the potential to promote creativity, efficiency and to automate tasks, which opens up to new areas of applications. At the same time GenAI entails new challenges since the dynamic and interaction between the human and the technology is changing. Previous studies have mainly focused on the implementation of AI and not the effects that the users experience. This study therefore aims to investigate which challenges users experience when they interact with GenAI-tools. The study takes on a socio-technical perspective and applies the theoretical framework, Socio-technical Systems Theory (STS), focusing on the interaction between the technical and social system. Furthermore, a qualitative research approach has been adopted, where totally 10 semi-structured interviews have been conducted with respondents who use GenAI in their daily work. The empirical material has been analyzed through a thematic analysis and the studies theoretical framework. The study's results show that users often experience challenges when AI has been integrated into an organisation. It results in a perceived socio-technical imbalance, which affects the users trust, usage and acceptance of the technology. Despite the identified challenges, the results show that there is an optimistic and positive attitude towards the opportunities thatAI and GenAI can contribute with.
