Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The digitalization of healthcare has brought significant changes to work processes and documentation, with electronic health records (EHR) playing a central role. This qualitative study aims to explore how healthcare professionals experienced the training prior to the implementation of an EHR system, with a focus on perceived relevance, preparedness, and practical usefulness. The study is based on nine semi-structured interviews with physicians, nurses, and medical secretaries who participated in the training initiatives. A thematic analysis was conducted, guided by the theory of Constructive Alignment.

The findings indicate that the training was perceived as partially relevant, but that it lacked sufficient adaptation to different professional roles and work tasks. Practical exercises and realistic simulations were highlighted as crucial for learning but were perceived as insufficient. Participants expressed a need for more role-specific preparation, clearer learning objectives, and continuous support following implementation. The study also shows that the training experience affects motivation, confidence, and system acceptance.

The conclusion is that training during system implementation needs to be clearly linked to a user’s actual needs, workflows, and competence levels. The study provides insights that can be used to improve future training efforts in connection with digital system implementations in healthcare.
