Abstract [sv]

Detta examensarbete undersöker användningen av spåntak som ett hållbart alternativ till traditionella takbeläggningar på kallvindar. Arbetet jämför spåntakets prestanda i förhållande till tegel, betong, papp och plåt, med avseende på relativ fuktighet i kallvindsutrymmen, livslängd och klimatpåverkan. Genom en litteraturstudie och analyser av materialens tekniska egenskaper har för- och nackdelar identifierats. Resultaten visar att spåntak kan, under rätt förutsättningar, erbjuda en effektiv lösning för att minska fuktrelaterade problem i kallvindar, har en lägre klimatpåverkan jämfört med övriga undersökta material samt visar god hållbarhet i avseende på livslängd. Slutsatserna pekar på att spåntak är ett alternativ som bör beaktas vid val av takbeläggning på kallvindar, särskilt i samband med byggprojekt med höga krav på hållbarhet och lågt klimatavtryck.

Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates the use of wooden shingle roofing as a sustainable and moisture-safe alternative for roof coverings in cold attics. The study compares the performance of shingle roofing against traditional materials such as clay, concrete, bitumen and metal sheet in terms of moisture safety, durability and environmental impact. The advantages and disadvantages of each option were identified through a literature search and analysis of the technical properties of these materials. The results suggest that, under certain conditions, wooden shingle roofing offers an effective solution to moisture-related issues in cold attics, has a lower environmental impact and increased life span compared to several traditional materials. The conclusions emphasise that wooden shingle roofing should be considered as a viable option for roofing of cold attics, particularly in construction projects with requirements on high sustainability and low environmental impact.
