Abstract [en]

Smart home technologies and their associated energy optimization solutions have the potential to significantly reduce energy consumption. However, various challenges prevent some current and prospective users from fully engaging with these technologies, thereby limiting their effectiveness in promoting energy efficiency.

This thesis examines the concept of smart homes, user interactions with these technologies, and the challenges that hinder their adoption and use. The primary objective is to identify and analyze the obstacles that prevent end users from utilizing energy optimization features effectively. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of these challenges, this research aims to contribute to the development of more accessible and user-friendly smart home solutions that facilitate energy savings and carbon footprint reduction.
