Abstract [en]

While many Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) worldwide acknowledge the significance of Internationalisation at Home (IaH; Marinoni,2019), they often struggle to offer adequate support to academics in their IaH endeavors. The assertion that IaH is primarily left to individual teachers tonavigate still holds true (Sanderson, 2008).Among the known challenges in implementing IaH, the lack of coordinated support from National Agencies remains a less explored obstacle (SOU 2018:3).National Agencies represent an untapped resource with the potential to support IaH, providing crucial know-how for HEIs that in turn can support theiracademic staff. We argue that National Agencies play a pivotal role in connecting individuals within HEIs with their IaH peers by creating a network andsharing best practices. In this session, we aim to showcase best practices from two national contexts (The Netherlands and Switzerland) where National Agencies play pivotal rolesin IaH. Whereas in the Netherlands, Nuffic, has been actively supporting HEIs IaH for a couple of years, whereas Movetia in Switzerland has more recentlystarted in. Additionally, the session will illuminate the diverse perspectives of European National Agencies regarding their involvement in IaH and delve intothe rationale behind their engagement, or lack thereof.Engaging participants in discussions during the session promises to yield further valuable insights into this important yet unexplored topic.
