Abstract [en]

To get a good temperature measurement with a resistance temperature detector (RTD)

and a thermocouple (TC) a good analog to digital converter (ADC) is needed. A good

way to achieve this is by performing tests on different types of ADC:s. This was done

by constructing a filter circuit connected to an RTD and TC in order to enable testing of

different ADC performance. The purpose of the project is to find a potential

replacement to the ADC LMP90100. The different ADC:s are tested based on their

accuracy in temperature measurements as well as their energy consumption. The project

uses an Arduino nano Iot 33 which is programed using Arduinos own IDE. Temperature

testing is done by using RTD and TC simulation tools. The project results were that a

potential replacement for the LMP90100 is the ADC ADS124S0-8 produced by Texas

instruments. It delivered measurement results for RTD averaging +/- 0.3 degrees and

with TC +/- 0.4 degrees Celsius.

För att få en bra temperaturmätning med en resistans temperatur detektor (RTD) och ett

termoelement (TC) behövs en bra analog till digital konverterare (ADC). Ett bra sätt att

uppnå det är genom att utföra tester på olika ADC:er. Det gjordes genom konstruktion

av en filterkrets kopplad till en RTD och TC som testar prestandan på ADC:er. Syftet

med projektet är att välja ut potentiella ersättare för en ADC vid namn LMP90100 där

resultatet presenteras i tabeller. ADC:erna testas på deras noggrannhet vid

temperaturmätning samt deras strömkonsumtion. Processorn som driver kretsen är en

Arduino nano Iot 33 som programmerades i Arduinos egna IDE. Testning av

temperaturmätningar gjordes med hjälp av RTD och TC simuleringsverktyg. Resultatet

av projektet blev att en potentiell ersättare är ADC:n ADS124S0-8 från Texas

Instruments. Den gav ett resultat vid RTD mätningar som genomsnittligt var +/-0.3

grader och vid TC +/- 0.4 grader.
