Abstract [en]

In today’s society, there are people who find it difficult to get up after sitting down for a long time. There are several different reasons for this, of which some examples can be injuries, age or other disabilities. No matter what the situation looks like, the person that phases this problem probably needs help to get up. The help can come from a relative or a healthcare provider. The person helping can sustain both temporary and chronic injuries.

Various concepts have been developed to find a solution that can make people more independent and make work easier for healthcare providers and relatives. The project has targeted all people who have difficulty getting up, and has had an extra focus on elderly care. In the end, a concept was chosen in the form of a seating cushion that, with the help of a rising function, pushes the person up from a sitting to a standing position. The function that causes the cushion to be pushed up consists of an air pillow that can rise up with the help of an air pump. The solution contributes to independence and greater freedom for people who have difficulty standing up, at the same time there is less burden on healthcare providers, which leads to a reduced risk of injuries and more effective work in elderly care.

The result has been produced after various research and tests of prototypes with different rising functions.
