The project began with a meeting between two students from Halmstad University and the company ErgoSafe AB. The students got in touch with the company after noticing the practicality of their product ClickitUp. ClickitUp is made out of two glass panels mounted on aluminum profiles. The inner panel is mounted on gas actuated pistons. By pressing down on this panel the pistons are activated like a ball point pen and start raising the panel to twice the height. Today the product is sold to outdoor diners, bars, cafes and private home patios. When it comes to balconies ClickitUp has a weakness. In its current form the product can only be mounted from the top, which goes against industry standards for balconies. This is not preferable for concrete balconies since it creates a risk of ice explosions, which can crack the concrete. Another weakness with mounting from the top is that it restricts the amount of usable area on the balcony. ErgoSafe wants to expand their presence on the balcony market by creating a mounting solution that fits all balconies. The purpose of the expansion is to be able to partner up with large construction companies in large projects like new production or refurbaging apartment buildings.

The students got the assignment to create a mount that makes it possible for ClickitUp to be mounted on the side of a balcony according to industry standards. This mount should also be easy and fast to install to decrease the installation costs and thereby the total cost. The mount should also be aesthetically pleasing and go hand in hand with ClickitUp’s design language.

The students created a solution where the installation is divided into multiple parts. This means most of the work can be done in the factory to minimize the amount of work out on the installation site. By doing a good job in the factory the actual installation can be simple which makes it fast and safe. This leads to a more effective installation in regards to time and therefore prices.

The project makes it possible to install ClickitUp on all types of balconies.

Projektet började genom ett möte mellan två studenter från Högskolan i Halmstad och företaget ErgoSafe AB efter att studenterna sett deras produkt ClickitUp på Lilla torg i Halmstad och fattat tycke för företaget. ClickitUp består av två glaspaneler omslutna av aluminiumprofiler, där den inre panelen sitter på gaskolvar. Genom att trycka ned på den aktiveras kolvarna likt enkulspetspenna och glaspartiet rör sig uppåt. Produkten omvandlas då till ett dubbelt så högtglasräcke. Produkten säljs idag till många uteserveringar och restauranger, men även tillprivatpersoner och deras balkonger och altaner. När det kommer till balkonger kan ClickitUpendast fästas från ovansidan vilket är olämpligt för betongbalkonger. Det går emotbranschstandard eftersom det skapar en risk för frostexplotioner. En annan nackdel med att fästa räcket på ovansidan är att ytan som går att nyttja minskar. ErgoSafe vill expandera påbalkongmarknaden genom att skapa ett system som gör ClickitUp attraktiv för alla typer avbalkonger. Syftet med expansionen är att kunna samarbeta med stora byggbolag i större projekt som nybyggnation och renovering av lägenhetshus.Studenterna fick i uppdrag att skapa ett fäste som gör att ClickitUp skulle kunna fästas på sidan av en balkong och följa branschens alla regler. Detta fäste skulle även gå snabbt att montera för att på så vis dra ner på installationskostnader för att få en lägre totalkostnad eftersom självaClickitUp är relativt dyrt. Fästet skulle även vara snyggt och matcha ClickitUps stilrena design. Studenterna utvecklade ett system där montaget skulle gå att dela upp i två moment. Installation av fästet på balkongen, följt av installation av räcket på fästet. Syftet var att genomföra såmycket arbete som möjligt i fabrik och så lite som möjligt på byggarbetsplatsen.
