Objective: This thesis aims to explore how real estate companies make strategic decisions regarding property investments while simultaneously pursuing profitable operations and sustainability.

Method: This thesis adopts a deductive research approach. The literature review was conducted by gathering theories and knowledge from previous research. Furthermore, a qualitative study was performed, involving interviews with six respondents from various positions within the construction and real estate sector.

Conclusion: The study concludes that strategic decisions are necessary for building and developing the industry in a sustainable and successful manner. It is also essential for companies to make strategic decisions in order to stay ahead and be part of the development. Strategic decisions in the real estate industry today involve testing new construction techniques, investing in knowledge and sustainable solutions. This results in socially and ecologically constructed areas where people thrive, as well as a sustainable construction sector for the future.
