Abstract [sv]
Abstract [en]
Combat Vehicle 9040C is an armored shooting vehicle used in the Swedish Armed Forces and has a crew of three people and a fire team of six people. Everyone in the vehicle has a limited perception of the world around them in a closed hatch mode, which motivates them to drive in an open hatch mode. At present, there are periscopes and prisms for the crew, however, blind spots are created when using these. The project group was therefore commissioned by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to increase the perception of the outside world for combat vehicles 9040C with the help of modern technology. The goal of the project was initially to prevent everyone in the crew from driving with their hatch opened, but during the project, the focus changed to partially adapting the concept to open hatch driving.
The project consists of three main parts: an analysis of competitors, several interviews, and two tests. The analysis of competitors is the first part, which mainly consists of mapping existing players and systems, which are then evaluated. The interviews were conducted together with people who work in or have worked in combat vehicle 9040C on missions and in live firing situations. Finally, tests have been performed to test two different concepts, an UAV simulation, and an AR simulation.
The result is several different concept solutions adapted for the different roles in combat vehicle 9040C. This includes, for example, integration between monitors and UAVs, cameras and monitors that correspond to imitate the function of rear-view mirrors, and a rear-view camera. Furthermore, the commander’s solution is also adapted to the “umbrella” position with the help of an expanding flexible bracket. What makes this solution unique is that there are different concepts depending on the wishes and needs of each role and that each vehicle does not have to implement all solutions. This is because it is not always necessary to have a complete system, because in some cases, only one of the concepts is needed. This enables customization according to the user and their needs.
