Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine employees' experience of motivation and commitment, how it is created by the employees and how employees want to express it. The survey is implemented on a consulting company in the IT and technology sector with 180 employees. Eight consultants participated in the survey. The study is based on personal interviews, divided into two parts, motivation, and commitment. The result of the study shows that all eight respondents are motivated and committed at work, but it differs in terms of which factors make the respondents motivated and committed. There are two factors standing out above all, the tasks and the relationship to coworkers. An interesting conclusion that is presented is that the respondents answers differ when asked about the concepts of motivation and commitment, compared to when asked about what's making them motivated and committed at their current workplaces. The answers seem to change when the respondents apply the concepts to themselves, as the opinions seem to go from objective to subjective, which might affect our analysis and implication.
