Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

In healthcare, sensitive information about patients is stored in their patient records. The medical records are an important part of healthcare for the care providers and are used as their work tool to be able to provide the right care to each patient. In the health care medical records system, all caregivers can search freely among patients' medical records, which therefore sometimes leads to caregivers reading patients they do not have the right to read. A care provider may only read medical records where they have care contact with the patient and a care provider who reads medical records to which they are not entitled makes data breaches. This study has investigated and highlighted the effects that can be achieved with better medical records management in healthcare. This was done with the help of a qualitative approach where a literature study and interviews were conducted. The results of the study are expected to contribute to an increased insight into the problem within the health and medical care and what effects can be achieved with the help of better medical records management.
