Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to examine how the head of units in elderly care experience health promotion work. The data includes six semi structure interviews with head of units who are all operative in elderly care. Our method for collecting data is qualitative and the analysis is done through categorizing. The theoretical approach is a sense of coherence( KASAM) and Karasek and Theorells demand-control-support-model. Previous research show that leadership has a significant role on the psychosocial working environment. Several studies also shows that adequate resources is necessary to manage the health promotion work. Participation and involvement are two important elements presented to promote the employees working environment. This study show that the experiences of eldery cares head of units are similiar when it comes to responsibility and the possibility to create participation. The difference in the experiences are how the head of units handle the available resources. All the respondents agree that communication is the key for a good work environment.
