Migratory process are increasing in the world of today. This has lead to the fact that many of the former more homogeneous nationstates are transforming into multicultural states. One of them is Sweden. The problem is discussed in this essay is how far the limits of tolerans are to be set in a multicultural democratic society. Sweden is, according to some political scientists, an anomaly in this subject, since it is a new immigrationcountry and still has come to develop a multicultural domestic policy. This essay focuses on school. The main purpose is to see what alternatives there are in a multicultural context. This is illustrated by comparing the work with this issue two schools in Halmstad. Since none of the schools have any activity in order to stimulate the cultures of ethnic groups on their school, neither of them are characterized as multiculturalistic. This paper also tries to find out in what direction the state governs the Swedish school. By looking at the Swedish curriculum we can see that the state does not prioritize the cultues of ethnic groups as much for example the cultures of national minorities.
