Abstract [en]
To reduce the frictional force between sliding surfaces at gear teeth is one major task to enable a reduction of power loss and the energy consumption. The main point in this report focuses on how lubricants, surface structures and lay orientation affect the frictional behaviour. The tests made in this research have been performed in a designed rough friction test rig, which makes it possible to simulate frictional behaviour between gear teeth. In this research ground, phosphated and dephosphated rollers were rig tested. Before, during and after the tests in the rig all surfaces were analysed and characterised topographically in 3D. The result demonstrates that different combination of lubrication and surface structures affect the friction in different ways. To get even more significant values from the test rig in the future we have recommended some changes on the test rig and the handling of data.
