Abstract [en]
During the process of design and construction, Saab is using knowledge about how drivers prefer to sit and the position of the body segments. Since this knowledge is based on earlier foreign studies Saab wants to find out their own guidelines. The aim of the project is to find drivers’ preferred postures. Investigate if it is any difference between males’ and females’ preferred posture. Further, posture compared to existing recommendations and investigate if posture is time dependent. Therefore 50 volunteers were observed and recorded while driving. The drivers’ preferred posture were determined and analysed by using a motions capture system. The result indicated that the subjects’ preferred joint inclinations were in the middle third of the range of movement. No significant difference was found by comparing the postures after 5 and after 20 minutes, which indicates that posture is not time dependent. No significant difference between the gender was found.
