Valfrihetssystem inom primärvården och personer med intellektuell funktionsnedsättning – en kunskapsöversikt2015In: Nordisk Administrativt Tidsskrift, ISSN 0029-1285, no 2, p. 18-36Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [sv]

© Nordisk Administrativt Tidsskrift

Adaptation/Standardization of SMEs’ Marketing Mix Elements across borders2013Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Nowadays, the globalization phenomena makes companies of every size think beyond domestic market. However, implement an international strategy that is efficient is not a simple task for firms. Indeed, companies have to respond to market specific context while they have different characteristics. In the literature, with regard to the adaptation/standardization of the marketing mix, most of the researches have built their theories upon the analysis of multinationals’ cases. Little attention has been paid on the cases of SMEs although in different topics of interest it has been seen that these two types of companies do not behave exactly the same ways. Therefore, this thesis aims to find the reasons affecting the SME’s decision of adapting/standardizing the marketing mix and how do they proceed to do so.

A qualitative research has been done with one Belgian small-medium enterprise (Bruyere) that evolves in the chocolate industry and more precisely in the market of pralines. The data gathered, thanks to the interview of two managers of Bruyerre, are structured with the theoretical framework beforehand developed. The analysis and discussion section contrasts and compares the theoretical framework and the data gathered.

The research brought specific and significant findings about the small-medium Belgian enterprise (Bruyerre). Beyond general factors affecting their decisions either to adapt or standardize the element of the marketing mix strategy across nations, in this case, we found that managers have to build strong relationships with their partners across nations, take into consideration the nature of their product when deciding the strategy of adaptation/standardization and be flexible for their partners’ requests.

Entry mode decision for Swedish business-to-business firms internationalizing to India2015Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

AbstractTitleEntry mode decision for Swedish business-to-business firms internationalizing to India. AuthorsJesper Mårtensson, Joep van den BrinkSubjectMaster Thesis in International Marketing KeywordsInternationalization, Entry Mode, BRIC-markets, Internal & External Factors, Effectuation & Causation. Question(s)How do internal and external factors influence the entry mode decision for Swedish business-to-businessfirms internationalizing to India? How can the entry mode decision process be characterized for Swedish business-to-businessfirms when internationalizing to India? How does the entry mode, used by Swedish business-to-business firms in India, follows the Transaction Cost Approach to entry modes and the Resource Based Approach to entry modes?PurposeThe purpose of this study is to get a deeper understanding of how internal and external factors influence the entry mode decision forSwedish business-to-business firms that internationalize to India. Furthermore, the study aims at bringing in a process-based view of the entry mode decision literature. The study also aims to investigate entry modes used in India to see how it followsthe recommendations of the transaction cost and the Resource Based explanation to entry mode choice. MethodQualitative multiple case study consisting of three cases. The data was collected through personal interviews. The cases have been analyzed using a within-case analysis and a cross-case analysis.ConclusionThe findings of our study show that firms evaluate just a few internal and external factors when internationalizing to India. As can be derived from our study, the product has an importantinfluence on the entry mode decision for the investigated firms. The more standardized a product is, the easier it is to penetrate the Indian market using low-control entry modes. The higher the complexity of the product, the more knowledge is required from the firm and thus, the higher the likelihood for a firm to internationalize to the Indian market using high-control entry modes. It is also shown that firms tend to rely on earlier experiences when internationalizing to India, whereas this could limit the firms for choosing the right entry mode. Furthermore, the specific market barriers for the Indian market have an influence on the entry mode decision as well. It is also found that firms that have a causational approach to foreign entry mode will not allow for a rapid switch in the level of foreign involvement before they have reliable information as a base for the decision. The firms with an effectual approach made their entry mode decision based on selecting an entry mode with low resource commitment, seeing their achieved turnovers in India as a bonus.

Toward a Behavioral Theory of Boards and Corporate Governance2009In: Corporate governance: An International Review, ISSN 0964-8410, E-ISSN 1467-8683, Vol. 17, no 3, p. 307-319Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

    Manuscript Type: Review

Research Question/Issue: A coherent alternative to an economic approach of corporate governance is missing. In this paper we take steps towards developing a behavioral theory of boards and corporate governance.

Research Findings/Results: Building upon concepts such as political bargaining, routinization of decision making, satisficing, and problemistic search, a behavioral theory of boards and corporate governance will focus more on (1) interactions and processes inside and outside the boardroom; (2) the fact that decision making is made by coalitions of actors and objectives are results of political bargaining; and (3) the notion that not only conflicting, but also cooperating, interests are parts of the boards' decision making and control over firm resources.

Theoretical Implications: The consequences are a new research agenda for boards and corporate governance. The agenda will focus on actual instead of stylized descriptions of board behavior. In a behavioral perspective the emphasis on problems of coordination, exploration, and knowledge creation may dominate over problems of conflict of interest, exploitation, and the distribution of value. A future research agenda based on a behavioral framework calls for novel and adventurous research designs.

Practical Implications: A behavioral theory of boards and corporate governance will be closer to actual board behavior than the traditional economic approach and research about boards and corporate governance may thus become more actionable for practitioners. © 2009 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.

Kompetensförsörjning: Att behålla medarbetare när fler byter jobb allt oftare2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In today’s Labor market we can see a trend that more and more individuals change jobs moreoften, an unexplained subject in the field of skills supply. The trend places greater demandson organizations to attract, develop and retain their staff. This paper aims to investigate howthis trend can affect organizations work with skills supply and to find out which factorsorganizations are focusing on to keep their staff. This qualitative study that includes eight small and mediumsized organizations from differentindustries shows that some organizations adapt to the trend while others do not. Somemanagers say that the trend is a alternation, something that you are always supposed to beprepared for. Others say that you loose focus on the actual work if you lay your focus on thetrend and how you risk losing your employees. Another part believes that the trend issignificant and that it is important to take into account. The trend has been shown to influenceseveral industries, and many managers choose to focus more on retaining and developing theirstaff today than before. The study also shows that other factors than wages, such asdevelopment and well-being, tend to be more important in today's labor market.

Hybridisering i statligt ägda bolag: En fallstudie av Lernia AB2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Development of a conceptual framework of motivators for professionals in a multicultural organization with a hybrid R&D structure: How to avoid carrot management2011Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This study was set out to design a conceptual framework of motivation practices for multicultural organizations with a hybrid R&D structure. We derive four separate motivational needs from specific cultural dimensions. These motivational needs give us the possibility to link certain motivational practices with the cultural settings. A case study was conducted in order to provide empirical support for the conceptual framework.

The effect of knowledge sharing: A study of the influence of knowledge sharing on strategic alliance performance2010Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This master’s thesis was performed with the purpose of analysing the influence of knowledge sharing on the performance of strategic alliances. For responding to the research question, a deductive approach was chosen; first, a theoretical model, based on existing theories about knowledge sharing in strategic alliances, was developed, which was then transformed into hypotheses; this was followed by a survey among 50 manufacturing firms within the EU. The empirical data was thereafter analysed and the hypotheses were tested through a regression analysis. The study revealed several results: (a) it became apparent throughout the theoretical research, that knowledge sharing is not directly measurable, but had to be described by its composing aspects; (b) the results obtained through the regression analysis showed that (1) the trust among the alliance partners, (2) the degree to which the firms’ shared knowledge is explicit, and (3) the degree to which the contributed knowledge is related to the firm’s core knowledge, have a positive impact on the performance of an alliance.

Applying the value grid model; an examination of Google2017Student paper other, 5 credits / 7,5 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In the last twenty years, Google had a tremendous growth, from a small project of two PhD students to one of the most valuable companies on the globe. This growth is characterised by the versatile of the company, next to its search engine, Google explored many different value chains along the way. In this study, the value grid model is used to examine their movements. It can be stated that Google used, and uses, the paths/dimension as implied by Pil and Holweg (2006) to explore new opportunity and demand. The main reason why Google is able to do so is because of its board and management, who are innovative, and open-minded. Next to the top management is the appearance of Google in many different sectors and value chains a reason of their growth. The variety in businesses allows them to create a “Google experience”, and thus a competitive advantage in comparison with their main competitors who do not have this ability.

Behovet av en medmänniska: En kvalitativ studie om krishantering i ett individualistiskt Sverige2011Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

HR-transformationens inverkan på HR-personal2019Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This study´s purpose is to investigate whether HR staff experience stress relating to an HR transformation. The issues applied to the essay included; the result of the HR transformation, what kind of difficulties it could cause the HR staff, along with how the transformation affects their psychosocial working environment with focus on stress. The study was performed with the help of six informants, who is currently working in an HR department and have in some form participated in an HR-transformation. Data collection was based on semistructured interviews and analyzed with a thematic method. The result showed that half of the informants experienced stress relating to the HR transformation. The HR-transformation resulted in close operational support, visibility in the business, good collegial support and that the HR perspective was included in strategic decisions. Difficulties that arose were ambiguity in the process of change and that the process was time-consuming and working with the new requirements. Confusions about new working methods, unclear division of labor at implementation and an unspoken requirement for constant availability for the business were factors that contributed to perceived stress.

Case studies about swedish companies2016Student paper other, 5 credits / 7,5 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The purpose with this paper is to investigate and get deeper understanding of case studies about Swedish companies. I will focus on the way the case studies have been constructed, the purposes of the studies and how well the findings may be implemented to other contexts. I find this interesting because case studies are something that can benefit every company in other to in some way improve and streamline the business. The data used in this paper will be obtained from various case studies within the subject “Swedish companies” and therefore analyzed to draw conclusions.

The findings from this study is that every case study is unique, and there is not one single, optimal way to construct a case study. One must take the purpose of the study into consideration and establish the study from this. However, there are common traits between case studies, such as the ways of obtaining data for the studies and the uniqueness of research question. How well the findings of a case study can be generalized to other contexts also depends on the uniqueness of the purpose of the study.

"Vi ska bli arbetslösa och kunna lägga ner kvinnojourerna": En kvalitativ studie med anställda på kvinnojourer om deras upplevelser av arbetet med våldsutsatta kvinnorpå lång sikt2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The aim with this study is to investigate through interviews, how the cooperation between women’s shelter and other participants and which methods and work methods are used in the long-term work of helping abused women. It’s the state and municipalities responsibility to meet the needs of the victims of violence with support and protection. Non-profit women’s shelters often complement the public authorities. Here, there often find a solid experience in the field, which public activities may lack off. For women who are victims of violence, who have previously had poor experience of government contacts, women’s shelters can be perceived as better alternatives, for support and assistance without a claim for counter performance (Regeringen 2007, Skr. 2007/08:39; Kunosson 2014). Therefore, the study takes its starting point from the staff in the perspective of women's shelter. The study is designed as a qualitative research strategy where semi-structured interviews are used as a method. The collected material from the interviews is analyzed through participationand empowerment theory. The result shows that the most important participants are social services and other municipal activities. Organizations. The experience is that organizations and government body functions don’t have sufficient knowledge in regards to violence and aspects relating to sheltering. The result shows that the term long term entails economic aspects and a view of that the yearly funding’s that the women’s shelters apply for could stretch for a longer time period. The term long term also includes being able to provide support for women for as long as they, themselves feel it’s needed. The result of the study also shows that the normalization and knowledge of and around men’s violence against women are important in the work. In addition to these results we also found that there are several methods and ways of working within the women shelters. Examples of these are empowerment, help to self-help and motivational interviewing.

Effect of music on customer's behavior in ourchassing process2015Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Marketing is a tool that must always be sharpened to meet the market needs. In a world of constant evolution, marketers are looking for new ways to attract and capture the attention of consumers. The emergence of new forms of marketing makes sales experience increasingly rich and increasingly difficult. The points of sale must offer originality to rival and beat the competition in all aspects. The use and stimulation of the senses through sensory marketing makes more satisfactory consumer experience and allows to differentiate in the market. Different theories say that music is an atmospheric element that influences consumer behavior. However, these writings do not take into account demographic factors. Nevertheless a difference between generation is present in the way of consuming. The study is focused on Generation Y in order to know the specificities of this one. In fact, generation Y has evolved in a very intense musical framework and it would be interesting to observe their behavior in-store face a stimulus in order to analyze the influence.

Matematik i barns lek2011Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Vilka faktorer påverkar storleken på biståndet?2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

This sociological essay is about support for relatives prop. It has a hermeneutic attitude, and data were collected through qualitative methods. The focus has been directed to the municipalities of Gislaved, Gnosjö, Vaggeryd and Värnamo (the GGVV region).

Contact with relative’s supporters caused interest to examine the various relatives prop that are available in the GGVV region. As the support changed from being based on general terms to be individualized, an interest aroused to investigate what support the respective municipalities offer. To gain a deeper understanding of the support, the beneficiaries have been examined as well as the experience of the community and how the families believe that the supports affect them. Through interviews, participant observations, and a life story, sufficient material was gathered for analyzing the data using theoretical concepts. The theoretical concepts used are Gemeinschaft, Gesellschaft, The Stanger and Empowerment. The analysis shows that the GGVV region offers support for various forms of family gatherings for example, "feel good days" or "the Gapet". A significant family community seems to be included in all of the forms of assistance. The families feel that the support gives them new energy, and give them strength to talk about their situation. Unfortunately, the support we have studied only reach out to a certain group of people, women over 65, with a Swedish ethnic background. Besides four of the municipalities we reviewed do not offer the same assistance relatives prop.

    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to create understanding for how organizations in the Swedish county of Halland works with parents with addiction problems and how the parental support efforts affect the family situation. The method we use to reach both parties' experiences is eight semi-structured in-depth interviews, and the theories and concepts used in the interpretation of the material are Max Weber's bureaucracy theory, Ole Petter Askheim’s and Bengt Starrin’s theory of Empowerment, Erving Goffman's study on role-taking and Thomas Scheff's concepts of shame, guilt and social bond. The results show that organisations have different guidelines and structures of parental support work. A majority of the clients interviewed have not received parental support, but the study also show that the relationship between the support worker and client has a significant role in the support and treatment process and that the parental support efforts have affected the family situation in different ways.

Gör arbetet att livet blir roligt?: - en sociologisk studie om individer som stått utanför arbetsmarknaden men som idag arbetar i ett socialt företag2015Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Previous research has shown that the work in various aspects is of great importance for human mental well-being. We have chosen to examine how it is to have been unemployed and then to get a job in a social enterprise. The purpose of the study was to create an understanding of the needs that work contributes to and what the importance of social enterprise is for an individual. How have individuals experienced their unemployment? Do social enterprises fulfill any particular needs for the individual? The theoretical framework we use in the study is; the latent deprivation model, humanitarian work and inclusion/exclusion.

Our empirical material was gathered through seven semi-structured interviews with individuals who have been unemployed but are currently working in a social enterprise. Through these interviews, we have been able to capture the experiences of the seven individuals and focused on their unique stories. The result have shown that the informants felt mentally ill at the time they were without work, but because work satisfies several essential needs they feel much better today. Co-determination and involvement are key words for the working conditions in social enterprises, which played a major role for the individuals’ positive well-being.

Möjligheter för arbete med barns konflikthantering2016Independent thesis Basic level (professional degree), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

This study examines how Halmstads municipality is working with residents participation in East Halmstad and what attitude residents have. The aim is to gain a better understanding of which municipal representatives and residents experiences, and who is included and represented. Also, to find out if there is an interest among residents to participate in area development. The material is reached through semistructured interviews and a hermeneutic approach is used. Further, four sociological theories are central; Rolf Lidskog's theory of public space, Jan Inge Jönhills distinguishing couple inclusion/exclusion, Don Mitchell's concept of the right to the city and Kevin Murphy's definition of social sustainability. The result shows that the municipality works with residents participation, but it does not have a common definition of the concept. The municipality only includes certain social groups and it is unclear if all residents are represented, although there is an interest among residents to participate. The residents don´t have knowledge of the municipality's work and Halmstads municipality has an equal vision, but some areas needs to be developed in order for the work to be socially sustainable.

    Abstract [en]

In this study we have analysed from an intersectional perspective two textbooks Historia 1b and Progress Gold A which are purposed to be used as teaching material in Swedish schools in the subjects of History and English. Our question and reason for doing the analysis is to emphasise and make the variety of women in the books visible in order to compare that variety to the one that is demanded by the Swedish curriculum. The analysis is made from an ideology critical perspective and contains quantitative elements. Our conclusion is that the material contains both excluding and including features. Some intersectional categories are well represented while others, like functionality and religion, are not. This has a direct effect on the possibility to discover variation amongst the women represented in the material. Previous research states that it is not enough to leave the descriptions without problematizing them, which we found incoherent with the analysed books.

Diskursiva mönster om internetanvändande i skolan2008Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
