    Abstract [en]

    This is a product development project which has developed a prototype in order to facilitate for people using mobility devices when they want to buy a larger quantity of groceries. The prototype is a shopping cart composed with the upper part of a walker.Today there are many different types of mobility devices used by elderly and people with physical impairment. According to Myndigheten för samhällsskydd och beredskap (MSB) are accidental falls the most common cause of accidents in Sweden.This project has been using Computer Aided Design (CAD) as a tool to create a visual image of the prototype. The advantage of this is to modify the functionality and performance of the prototype on the computer before the modification takes place in the real model. Using human manikins, the CAD model was rendered in natural surroundings to get as true a picture as possible. The prototype is adjustable, why various anthropometric measurements were used to fit to the individual, but not less than the 40th percentile for women, corresponding to a height of 161 cm.The project has resulted in a CAD model and a functional prototype. The prototype has been tested by a user group at Alla Hjärtans Hus (AHH) and received positive feedback. The prototype also received constructive criticism from users, so suggestions can be applied. Suggestions for further development of the prototype have been developed. The prototype needs to be modified and components must be added before it can be used in grocery retailers.

    In this thesis work the feasibility of using open source OpenFOAM software as a solver part for Computation Fluid Dynamics in Volvo Technology is studied. Since the structure of the case in OpenFOAM is rather complex, one of the main purposes of this thesis work was also to make the process of using OpenFOAM as user-friendly as possible. The general conclusion that can be drawn from this work is that a very streamlined workflow can be, and has been, designed and created.

    We performed our thesis at SCA Hygiene Products in Falkenberg. Our task has been to present a suggestion for a solution of the packing of giveaways that the company uses.In the current situation the work is performed manually, and the company wants to automate the process. In the following report, we present the different solutions that we have developed in our definite model. It includes a picking solution, a shaking table and trays. The product choices we have made are based on existing solutions.To help, we have used Fredy Olsson's books in principle and primary structure. From this, we’ve taken help in the methods we have used.

    Abstract [en]

    Traffic accidents where wild animals are involved represents between 60 and 80 percent of all reported accidents, depending on location in Sweden. In a country like Sweden, with a lot of forest, there is always risk of a collision with a wild animal. Imagine if you, as a road user, had the possibility to receive warnings when the risk of an accident according to statistics is extra high.

    Wildlife Detection Network is a wildlife warning system with an information service, which makes the whole concept unique. When an animal is approaching the road, it is registered by sensors, and warning lights along the road are lit to inform drivers of the potential danger. In conclusion, this is a direct warning to all drivers on the road where the system is placed.

    When an animal is registered by the sensors, information containing time, date, weather circumstances and coordinates are sent to a database. The database stores information about the animal activity in the area, and will read out activity patterns for the animals. For example, the risk for a collision might be higher between 6.00 and 8.00 AM when the temperature is about ten degrees.

    When you approach the measured area in your car, you will receive a warning in you smartphone or GPS-unit. The warning tells you that the risk of encountering a wild animal along the road is high during the current circumstances. The associated service works as a complement for those that further wants to reduce the risk of a wildlife accident.

    We are well aware of that wildlife accidents are a very complex and in particular intractable problem. The two of us behind Wildlife Detection Network are proud of our concept and we are hopeful that our system will contribute to a decrease in wildlife accidents in the future.

    Abstract [en]

    In line with the Swedish government's initiative and the national potential for expansion ofsolar electricity, many things will happen over the forthcoming years. Like all operationsrelated to the energy sector, there are many sub-processes that can go wrong. One in everyeighth major electrical accident in general occurs due to technical failures that emerged during commissioning.

    For photovoltaic systems there are both Swedish and international standards related to manufacture, testing and maintenance. For this project we have chosen to immerse ourselvesin the IEC 62446 - Grid connection photovoltaic system. IEC 62446-1 is specially designedfor grid-connected photovoltaic systems. The standard is an important part in the assurance ofreliability and includes commissioning, monitoring and documentation.

    This report has been completed together with Solect Power with the purpose of designing aroutine check for commissioning, as well as to compliment Solect Power’s currentdocumentation. The composed documents meets the requirements of IEC 62446 Gridconnected photovoltaic systems - Minimum Requirement, regarding system documentation,commissioning tests and inspection. The report will hopefully facilitate the work of SolectPower so that a smoother workflow can be achieved and mistakes avoided. Compiled documents are presented in the report's appendix.

    Abstract [en]

    Bedrock heat is a form of renewable energy that plays an important role for our ambition to create a more sustainable society.  Heat that floats beneath the ground can be heat exchanged with a bedrock pump so the energy can be used in our daily life.

    This procedure comes with two big issues. The first problem is that the fluid that’s used to exchange heat under the ground leaks and blends with the ground water. This has been solved and the solution to that problem was a capsule developed by Pemtec AB outside Borås that surrounds the collectors to prevent this to happen. The other problem that hasn’t been solved yet is the cooling effect that freezes the area around the hole, which means in the long run that the temperature inside the hole decreases and the bedrock potential is held back.  This is what our bachelor thesis is about.

    We will simulate a bedrock hole with COMSOL Multiphysics and see what we can do to prevent the temperature inside the hole to decrease. We will for example try to combine solar energy together with bedrock heat to reload the temperature during the summer.  And also see what changes that can do for the usage of bedrock heat.

    The project was carried out together with OC Off Course who manufactureand distribute mainly electric bikes.In today’s society, alternative sources of transportation becomes more andmore present and several bicycle sharing programs arises in major citiesacross the world every year.Something that doesn’t exist too much as of yet is bike sharing programsthat uses electric bikes. An electric bike is a convenient way oftransportation as well as a good way of avoiding traffic. With an electricbike you avoid having to sweat when biking over hills or when you need totravel over longer distances.The goal of this project is to develop a bike sharing station according tothe functions need to be met.This thesis Is based on Fredy Olsson´s methods principkonstruktion aswell as a couple of concept generating methods from Kenneth Österlin.From this, a number of sketches were made that later was evaluated inseveral steps in conjunction to a set of specifications. A 3D model of theselected concept was later made in CatiaV5 for a complete product.

    Examensarbetet bygger på en egen observation av brister som finns i de trygghetslarm som kommunerna använder sig av idag. Idén är att personer ska känna sig trygga på allmänna platser. Arbetet kommer att baseras på tre grundparametrar, position, fall och puls. Det är både teoretiskt fakta men även att testa olika system. Första fasen i arbetet är att strukturera ner grundparametrarna i mindre delar. Arbetet utförs genom att avläsa marknadens sortiment på trygghetslarm. Därefter utföra en egenskapad testanalys på komponenterna. Den andra fasen är att testköra och sammanfoga grundparametrarna till en produkt och att avläsa både marknaden och prisbilden. Även hur armbandet ser ut i dag och att tillverka en konstruktion som passar bättre dagens behov. Tredje fasen är en analys på vad som blev bra och vad som blev mindre bra, för att kontrollera att samtliga kriterier uppfyllts. En kontroll så att samtliga kriterier som har angetts uppfyllts. Produktens slutliga konstruktion för detta projekt ska ha en instruktionsmanual och en tillverkningsmanual. Konstruktion av ett nytt trygghetslarm genomfördes. Ett antal komponenter och analyser utfördes för att välja rätt komponenter till rätt grundparameter. Grundparametrarnas mål uppfylldes, ett av dem var trygghet på allmänplats.

    Dark Ages Lunar Interferometer (DALI): Deployment Rover2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    In this thesis we have looked at the possibility of using a rover for deployment of lunar interferometers on the dark side of the moon. This project was made together with two other groups at Halmstad University. The project was divided into three units and we had the main responsibility for the deployment unit on the rover.

    The deployment unit of the rover is the device that will pick up, carry and roll out the antennas, which is a thin film 1x100 meters rolled up as a roll. The device must work in cooperation with the other units so that the antennas are deployed in a safe and controlled manner.

    The background of this project is to create a better understanding of the universe, its origin and how it still continues to change. This is made to believe possible by using lunar interferometers that will collect radiation from outer space. The lunar interferometers are placed at the dark side of the moon so that the radiation we humans create will not affect the results.

    This thesis is issued in collaboration with Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in

    Pasadena, California. JPL is a world leading designer and manufacturer of space-related products. At the time being JPL has 22 spacecraft and 10 instruments conducting active missions.

    The focus in this project was to develop a conceptual design of a rover able to deploy the lunar interferometers. The result is a concept created in a 3D-enviroment.

    Abstract [en]

    This report presents the combined work from two B.Sc. mechanical engineering students from Halmstad University. The thesis Tårtförpackningar represents 15 ECTS-credits and have been active over a 20-week period during the spring of 2019. The work that has been done with this thesis is an obligatory part of the education on a bachelor’s degree level. The purpose of the thesis is for the students to apply their theoretical knowledge they have gathered during this 3-year period and combine that with the practical collaboration with a company

    This thesis is a result of the collaboration between two students from Halmstad University and the packaging company INP in Ljungby. The project’s main purpose is to develop more user-friendly cake packaging since the packages today has at least one of following issues: hard to open, difficult to stack on each other, lack of stability on the bottom piece, the cake touches the lid and gets messy.

    With our packaging, we have succeeded in fulfilling all the above requirements and developed cake packages where it can accommodate a relatively heavy cake that doesn’t make the bottom to sag or touch the side of the lid. The design of the bottom part makes it easy to remove the cake from the package. It’s also easy to open the lid without it touching the cake. The various lids are designed based on our market research where one type of our lids has a simple design to enhance the cake, and the other type is where the packaging itself is emphasized.

    Hållbar vattenkraft i Nissan: En förstudie och konsekvensutredning över förutsättningarna för ökade vandringsmöjligheter med nya fiskvägar.2015Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    The hydropower from Nissan River is of national interest and produces annually 230 GWh from the twelve power stations in the main flow. For modified waters a consideration between the power production and the biological values has to be made. This reports serves as a pre-study for Nissans Vattenråd. It tries to evaluate some of the biological values in the Nissan basin and map the power production in the area. And the size and value of lost power production from new fishways for the twelve stations in the main flow.

    The investment of new fishways is calculated using simplified templates with values from the business. The cost and loss of power due to new fishways are calculated for three cases: fish friendly grates for the power station inlet and bypass for migration. Fish friendly grate and vertical-slot fish passage for migration. The last case is called “scenario” and is a combination with the most suited solution for each station. This includes a restoration of the creek, with maintained power production, for the two stations closest to the ocean.

    The cost for fish friendly grade and bypass for al stations is about 207 mskr and for vertical-slot fish passage 125 mskr. They both result in a loss of power production of 12 GWh/year, corresponding to a value of 3,2 mskr (NordSpot sale price only) annually. Case “scenario” costs 177 mskr and loses additionally 4,2 GWh/year.

    In the overview, large parts of the Nissan runoff has difficulties reaching “god ecological status” which is the goal set for 2021. This goal can be extended to 2027. The main problem is chemical effect of acidification and mercury in the ground, as well as connectivity issue caused by dams and culverts. Salmon and sea trout could earlier migrate to Nissafors and is limited to the lower parts of Nissan to Oskarström. Many of the tributary waters have high biological values. The existing fishways have questioned functionality and delays fish migration today. Before decisions are made about increasing fishways the advice is to do further studies about the breeding grounds. It’s also possible to identify positive cash flows from an increase in fish migration.

    Abstract [en]

    The installations of wind turbines are expanding rapidly each day in Sweden and 2011 wind energy generated 6,1 TWh. This is an increase with 74 % compared to 2010.

    The modern wind turbine that becomes integrated in the Swedish electricity grid at the moment often has a power capacity of 2000-3000 kW. Many of those wind turbines which are already integrated in the grid soon need to be replaced. These turbines often have a power capacity of 200-600 kW. Many of these old turbines have been generating electricity for almost 20 year, which is the technical lifetime for a wind turbine. These old turbines are also often located on sites with great energy levels. This makes it interesting to investigate the possibilities and if there is a profit in repowering. Repowering is when you dismantle old turbines and replace them with new ones.

    Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands are countries in Europe, which have already been doing repowering for some time. Denmark is the country where most repowering has been done. They have exchanged two thirds of their old turbines. In most of the projects which has been done, the energy level has been doubled and in some cases even quadrupled! When the modern larger turbines replace the old smaller ones, fewer turbines are raised on the site although the energy level increases. While doing repowering the sites are used in a better way, it makes the electricity prices cheaper, the political ambitions in renewable energy are easier reached and many people also claim, that the landscape is improved.

    This bachelor´s thesis has the objective to investigate the possibilities and the profit for future repowering projects in county of Halland, Sweden. To find out where the wind turbines are located in the county, mapping and identification where done. When the mapping was done, projections of new parks where created. It turned out that these old turbines often where located on a very limited area, which makes it hard to establish new larger turbines. This is because they need larger distance to the nearest residences. Because of this, projections also where done on other locations. In every project economical calculations were made, which are based on the energy results from the projections, which were made in WindPRO. The thesis has investigated how and if the owner of the old wind turbines and the land holder can be compensated when repowering. Researching and brainstorming on different scenarios for what will happen to the old turbines has also been done. We have had contact with owners of wind turbines to find out, what their opinion are about repowering.

    The prime conclusion from this bachelor thesis is that repowering has good possibilities to be profitable. There might be some problems to project new wind turbines on the same site where the old turbines where located, if the municipality don’t change the distance demands to residences and the demand that a group of wind turbines must be raised. If these demands are changed, the future for repowering looks very promising. Another conclusion where that there might be good profit in selling the used wind turbine, but to sell the used material of a wind turbine to recycling is not profitable. Profit from selling the turbine material to recycling does not cover the cost for dismantling it. Owners of the wind turbines have in general a positive attitude to repowering.

    Abstract [en]

    Thestudy's purpose was to investigate why four different organizations use certain recruitment methods. Based on this purpose, the writers of this study formulated a question about the underlying causes that may affect the choice of recruitment methods in these four different organizations. The study was conducted using qualitative semi-structured interviews with four organizations, two of which appeared in the private sector and two of which appeared in the public sector. The study shows that the four different organizations use a variety of recruitment methods for the filling of vacancies. The choice of the different methods can be based on different underlying causes; organizations' mission, the organization's environment, power and control and the availability of resources. Thus, there may be several ways to understand what it is that makes an organization choosea particular method of recruitment and thus deselect other methods. It is therefore important to understand organizations' individual conditions and that theyall operate in different contexts in which the same recruitment method may not beoptimal for all. Thus, one and the same organization can be influencedby several independent factors whichin interaction with each other helps to shape an organization's entire recruiting process.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis has been performed in cooperation with the artist Robert Hais, who wishes to create a piece of art located outdoors on Tullkammarkajen in Halmstad, with the working title "Alternative Path." Alternative Path is a dynamic pathway, which gives each visitor a unique experience every single time the path is visited. The pathway is meant to be erected by the same time the county rebuilds the district "Tullkammarkajen", and this project is going to be the material that aim to interest the city officials to erect the piece of art.The project started with phase 1, which aims to define what a dynamic pathway is, and what is needed to create unique experiences. The project then continued with concept generation regarding experience alternation, of which many concepts got put on hold to be developed in upcoming phases. This thesis resulted in the design of the pathway and different concepts for view blocking, and initial constructing of these mechanisms was started. FMEA and other analyses on these parts were conducted, and the methodology used was David Ullman's design process.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis was performed in cooperation with Uniti Sweden, an emerging electricalvehicle manufacturer in Sweden. Uniti Sweden is developing a new vehicle, with aprototype slated for a Q3 2017 release.

    This thesis is about the driver's seat in the Uniti vehicle. The aim of the thesis was todevelop the seat partly by creating a design manual for future use.

    Data for the project was gathered using triangulation, using interviews,benchmarking, literature searches from different perspectives. Six different aspectswas studied, regulation, comfort and discomfort, aesthetics, biomechanics andergonomics, design and anthropometrics. The seat was developed using QFD anddiscussions with Uniti personnel, however, the development part was put on hold dueto Uniti's schedule, and greater emphasis was put on design manual. The designmanual featured three parameters, fit, feel and support.

    Abstract [en]

    This report present a thesis carried out in the spring semester of 2016 at the University of Halmstad. The work has been done to obtain a college degree in mechanical engineering and awards 7,5 credits.

    The work was done together with the constituent and mentor Zaheer Ahmed Mohammad, industrial designer at Halmstad’s Rubber Factory which manufactures most of plastic products. Their business area spreads from mining and construction industry to industrial products. HGF has a total of six business fields and we will work with the company's automotive department.

    The aim of this work was to develop fundamental design ideas for a rubber mat for cars that might be used by an Asian car company. A total of 8 design ideas were introduced where each design contain a "story line" that is related to the vehicle, which is the requirement from the company. These designs will at a later stage undergo a critical review based on its appearance and design resulting to only 2 designs will be presented to the car company.

    The work began with a survey to get an overview of how the respective designs look at the various car companies. The market investigation has also generated inspiration for our design. To customize our work for our needs and requirements, a design and construction methodology has combined to obtain the desired solutions. The software that has been used during this thesis is CatiaV5, KeyShot, InDesign and Adope Photoshop CS6.

    Purpose

    The purpose with this thesis is to gain deeper knowledge within product development chain and apply the skills that has been mastered during the education.

    Method

    The project provides answers to the study questions by addressing the gathered empirical data and theoretical framework .

    Implications

    Most time was to read and understand the ISO documents, to implement them on the right things and distinguish if they had an impact on our work.

    A lot of restrictions in this area because of the high risk of products within the medicine technical area.

    Limitations

    Rather soon during the project it was revealed that it was quite large and had to be limited within a certain region to make a good job. The whole process from idea to finished production line would take up to much work and will not be possible.

    The work will be limited within the area of getting the product CE-marked for production.

    Abstract [en]

    Sweden has a number of environmental objectives, of which one is reduced climate impact. To achieve this goal measures have to be taken in order to reduce building energy use in residential and services sectors, sectors that accounted for over one third of Sweden’s total energy use in 2014. Poor regulation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) is a common reason for often unnecessary high energy use in residential buildings and non-residential premises. Building automation integrates the buildings technical systems, such as HVAC, into one centralized system for monitoring and controlling, which then can be used to optimize the regulation for these systems. The market is however poorly mapped and information is missing regarding functions and area of use for these control systems.

    This report begins with a description of basic theory that is relevant for understanding parts later on. An analysis has then been made for a number of different building automation systems to clarify their functions, area of use, and potentials in energy savings. The report also describes the procedure for a real installation on Kv Slottet 4 and how the energy use and indoor climate has been affected after the building automation system has been installed.

    Results regarding the Swedish market overview shows that building automation is established in apartment buildings and non-residential premises while building automation is still unused in smaller houses. Some of the most common functions that are implemented in control systems are time clock operation, forecast control and power limitation. The analysis has shown that building automation can lead to energy savings between 10 to 40 %. The size of the saved energy depends on a number of factors like type of building, geographical location and former regulation of HVAC. The building automation companies are using different methods to calculate the energy saving why it is a problem to fairly compare different control systems. The information on energy savings for different type of buildings and technical systems are in many cases hard to get hold of. Generally speaking, the companies that provide mandatory agreements for operating the control system have more detailed information regarding energy savings. Four different companies were covered in this report. More companies should be mapped in order to make a more profound analysis.

    After the installation of Ecopilot® on Kv Slottet 4, a heat reduction of up to 20.6 MWh for the chosen period of time was achieved. That corresponds to a relative energy saving of 53 %. The energy saving varies depending on what method is used for calculation. The buildings total energy savings for electricity was 6.5 MWh, which corresponds to a 20 % reduction. The calculated energy saving is not all due to the building automation system but there has been some reduction. Ecopilot® has lowered the energy use by more efficient regulation, co-operating heating and cooling, more efficient heat recovery, lowered ventilation flows, and lowered temperatures. No change in indoor climate has been noticed by the people that were interviewed. The control system should be evaluated for a longer period of time to ensure how much it affects the indoor climate and the energy use in the building.

    Abstract [en]

    A decrease of oil consumption in the modern truck engine would mean decrease of particulate matter and hydrocarbon emissions. This decrease has a positive impact on the environment. One important source of oil consumption is the piston/piston-ring/liner system. One way of decreasing oil consumption is to optimize the surface topography of the liner. In this study different liner surfaces and different piston rings were investigated. The investigation shows that it is possible to decrease both the oil film thickness and the friction without sacrificing wear properties of the piston-liner system. A new surface parameter for quick wear estimation of this system is presented.     In heavy-duty diesel engines the piston system is the largest source of frictional losses, accounting for about 50 % of the total frictional losses. Due to the high tangential force of the oil control piston ring this component is responsible for a considerable amount of the total friction losses. The primary aim of this study was to determine the correlation between different cylinder liner surface morphology and friction; the secondary aim was to validate the simulation model using reciprocating tribometer experiments. A novel deterministic simulation approach was used to analyse the frictional interaction between oil control ring and cylinder. Multi variate analysis was used to analyse the effect of different cylinder liner surfaces on frictional outcome. Simulated results were compared to tribometer experiments. The simulation results show that a smaller honing angle decreases both hydrodynamic and boundary friction and that average level of plateau amplitude is most beneficial to decrease frictional losses. The simulation result also helps gaining insight into previous engine test result. Future work includes additional verification of the positive simulation result.

    Fuel consumption is an extremely important parameter for the automotive industry today. Anticipated emission legislative demands in combination with a rising oil price are true motivators. In engines the piston system is the largest source of frictional losses, accounting for about 50% of the total frictional losses, thus it is important to optimize. Apart from frictional losses the piston system is a large consumer of lubricating oil, a considerable contributor to the total amount of particulate emissions (PM). New materials, coatings and high-tech machining processes that previously were considered to be too expensive and therefore only used in complex applications are today becoming more affordable. It is important to develop reliable test methods to study these new concepts. The reciprocating tribometer at Volvo Technology has been updated to better evaluate the frictional difference between material combinations/surfaces; it is possible to evaluate a number of operational parameters in each experiment. The components that were studied were a piston ring running against a cylinder liner. Friction, wear and change in surface morphology were studied in the experiments. It is shown that for the introduced DoE based tribometer test the interaction of dynamic viscosity, velocity and contact pressure can be studied within one experiment. The results show differences in friction which could be explained as the surface creating beneficial contact conditions for oil film build-up. It is also apparent that surface roughness is important regardless of material properties. To better understand the correlations between friction and surface roughness a future study should include a study of similar materials with different roughness values.

    Abstract [en]

    In order to minimize the fuel consumption in internal combustion engines, the frictional losses must be minimized between the moving parts such as the sliding bearings. In this study, the sliding friction between the pin and roller in a heavy duty truck engine's valvetrain has been investigated. Three combinations of production components with different surface treatment were used: steel pin with steel roller, steel pin with WS2 coating inside the roller and PVD coated steel pin with steel roller. In-house test rig was used, enabling controlled conditions close to the real engine. A new method for alignment using a laser scanner was introduced together with high resolution tactile measurements of radial displacement during test. Surface topography of pins and rollers was measured before test with a mechanical stylus instrument. The WS2 showed 3.1 times and the PVD showed 2.5 times lower friction than the steel type at low speeds. Even though the friction reduction of WS2 over the PVD is not large, the important advantage is that the WS2 can be manufactured at lower costs than the PVD one. Good correlations among the friction, initial roughness and radial displacements were also found.

    This thesis is performed at the company National Gummi AB who is manufacturers of rubber

    products. This report describes the process of the product realization in combination with

    production development. The purpose with this thesis was to examine ways to streamline the

    packaging process, which currently takes place manually at the company. The aim is to

    reduce management costs for packaging by finding an efficient packaging solution and reduce

    the manual work at the packing.

    The project contains analysis of company present situation, functional analysis, list of criteria,

    weight of criteria, FMEA, principal sketches and a product compilation draft.

    In order to achieve the objectives of the project methods were used from books as

    Principkonstruktion, Premiärkonstruktion (Fredy Olsson) and Produktionsutveckling (Monica

    Bell Grad & Kristina Säfsten). The result consists of two different solutions that meet the

    demands and requirements but differ with different properties from each other. Theories and

    reasons behind the success of the project are available in the report. Finally the project and the

    two proposed solutions were evaluated.

    Abstract [en]

    In Schwaz, Austria, there is a company developing energy solutions and all-terrain vehicles, i.a. the Ziesel. The wheelchair users, who constitute an estimate of a third of all customers, are attracted by the Ziesel particularly because it doesn’t look like a wheelchair. It also helps them enjoy all the benefits from getting out into the nature. However, the structure of the frame gives this customer group a challenge to enter the Ziesel, as the seat is situated both high up and far into the Ziesel. Because of this position of the seat and obstructing elements on the Ziesel, it will be problematic to choose an optimized angle between the wheelchair and the seat at the transfer moment. Because of the current frame structure of the Ziesel, the company does not have a lot of possibilities to make the transfer easier for wheelchair drivers. The goal of this project is to develop an appliance that would ease entering their vehicle for wheelchair users.

    The project is divided into two parts, creating a requirement specification and developing several concepts. The requirement specifications were written after taking consideration to the company, user and customer criteria. Relevant input and feedback was gathered through meetings and surveys directed to wheelchair users. Multiple concepts have been developed and sent to Mattro, some of them good from a user perspective and some from a time, effort and budget friendly perspective.

    A requirement specification and four concepts, of which two are recommended, are presented as a result of this project.

    During this project, a thorough study has been done to examine which transfers are easy or hard to practice to and from a wheelchair. With the results from this project, more people that did not have this opportunity before can take part of and enjoy nature. This knowledge will make a great difference in future development of new products and vehicles for Mattro.

    In this paper it is investigated how surface topography on trimming dies influences the wear process. Surfaces on both semi-industrial test dies and dies used in production were analyzed with different surface topography analysis methods. The result shows that the wear process is different on the different sides of the trimming edge. The texture direction of the surface is changed due to wear, with the strongest change on the clearance side of the edge. The roughness on sheet side of the edge is reduced due to a hammering effect from the sheet material. The result on the test dies and the production dies correlates well.

    Abstract [en]

    The higher product requirements (reduced weight, increased safety, lower emissions…) have meant that a larger number of car body parts must be made in advanced high strength steels. With a reduced lifecycle of a car model from 7 to 5 years this leads to a need for reducing the manufacturing cost and lead time for the tool and die design and manufacturing. The main purpose of this investigation is to establish cost- and lead-time reducing guidelines for selection of tool concepts (choice of die materials, hardening methods and geometry) for different production volume scenarios with respect to sheet materials quality (MS-UHSS) and thickness, without increased die maintenance costs. In this study the cutting edge geometry has been evaluated in respect to the cutting edge radius and the angle of the upper tool. Experimental testing together with FE simulation has been used. Results show that an angle of 93° on the upper cutting edge initially can reduce the cutting work by 14%. Results also shows that by using a cutting edge radius of 80µm, the tool “wear in phase” can be more controlled. Wear test up to 150 000 strokes have been made to evaluate different tool concepts using laser hardened cast iron, cast steel and wrought steel as die material. Sheet material tested was 220RP, DP600, DP800, 700MC and DP1000, with a thickness of t=2mm. The result leads to recommendations for industrial verification. Results among other recommendations are: laser hardened EN-JS-2070 up to 500 000 parts against 220RP and Sleipner up to 1 500 000 parts against 1000DP.

    This is a report that describes the entire process of design of a measuring station for rolling resistance.

     

    The report is structured with elements of Fredy Olsson's method.

    The report also includes a brief presentation of HGF, the company that will manufacture the machine.

     

    Requirements and preferences are set up and used in a weighting of criteria by which product suggestions are based. These suggestions are used in the evaluation to produce a final draft product.

     

    Solutions to major functions are produced by criteria’s. Component selection for all components is performed, a CAD-based model is developed and an economic analysis is set up.

     

    FMEA analysis is set up.

     

    The report ends with a brief summary, critical review and suggestions for further work.

    Abstract [en]

    As a new pediatric dummy family, the Q-family, is suggested for the European childsafety regulations (R44) and the updated EuroNCAP, it needed to be tested andcompared to the older pediatric dummy family, Hybrid III, used in testing at Autolivtoday.In this study, tests were performed with the Q6 and the Hybrid III 6-year-old. Bothdummies were subjected to eight sled tests using a EuroNCAP acceleration pulse. The sled represented the interior of a Volvo V70, with integrated booster cushions mounted onto the car body through a rigid fixture. Standard belt were used for all tests, except one where pretensioning was used. Static tests investigated how the chest deflection on Q6 was affected by the shoulder belt geometry. Large difference in belt interaction was observed between the dummies. The beltslipped off the Hybrid III’s shoulder for all tests except one, while the belt on the Qdummy’swas hard to provoke off the shoulder. The overall kinematic behavior, beforethe belt slipped off the Hybrid III’s shoulder, were similar for both dummies. Differences in chest deflection on the Q6, depending on the belt geometry, were observed in both the dynamic and the static tests; a shoulder belt geometry closer to theneck resulted in minor displacement than a mid-shoulder belt geometry. After testing, five different damages were observed on the Q6.

    Abstract [en]

    The thesis that follows is performed in collaboration with Nitator in Oskarström.The factory in Oskarström focuses on laser cutting, robotic welding and surfacetreatment of steel for the automotive industry.

    The project aims to streamline the flow of materials in production by automatingthe movements of the forklifts, running to and from the interlayer, and betweenworkstations.

    The project started with a systematic literature search. The literature searchshowed the research position around the AGV-system. Also a review of studentliterature was made, so that a suitable method for practical implementation couldbe developed and applied. Selected method uses both quantitative and qualitativeapproaches, which is analyzed by using triangulation.

    The work has resulted in a modified layout of the current facility in Oskarströmthat can be used for the implementation of the AGV-system. It has also resulted inthe tender documents and profitability calculation from several of AGV-suppliers.

    Abstract [en]

    The project was initiated by dental personnel at the Specialist dentistry in Halmstad, Sweden, because they experienced problems when working with oral prosthetics. There is a risk that components are dropped and due to gravity and the patient's position, being inhaled or swallowed. This means stress and concerns, contributing to the deterioration of the psychosocial work environment for dental personnel.

     

    The Swedish dental State support was introduced in 2008, which gives the patient a reduced cost for dental prosthetic procedures. This allows more people to afford oral prosthetics. Therefore, the problem becomes more and more prevalent and the demand for a solution is requiered.

     

     The project has implemented dynamic product development with a major focus on the involvement of future users. The project was based on literature reviews, observation and survey, which was performed in the product definition phase. Different concept generation methods and evaluation methods were applied and resulted in a final prototype. A continuous dialogue and testing with the clients where performed throughout the project.

     

    This product development project resulted in an instrument that facilitates for dental personnel and increase safety for the patient during oral prosthetics. The solution is a specially designed forceps which slips onto the screwdriver and secures components.

    Vårt examenarbete är utfört i samarbete med InterSystem AB i Ängelholm. InterSystem konstruerar, monterar och säljer transportörsystem samt pallastare tillkunder inom livsmedel, läkemedel och kemiindustrin. Syftet med examensarbetet är att förenkla monteringen av maskinbeklädnaden på företagets pallastare. I dagsläget kräver maskinbeklädnaden en mycket tidsödande monteringsprocess som dessutom utförs på en provisorisk arbetsbänk. Vår uppgift har därför varit att göra förändringar i beklädnadens konstruktion för att möjliggöra en snabbare montering samt att konstruera en arbetsplats där monteringen kan ske snabbt och ergonomiskt. Projektet inleddes med insamling av information främst från personal på InterSystem för att få en uppfattning om problemen med dagens maskinbeklädnad. Därefter arbetades en kriterieuppställning fram i samråd med företaget. Kriterieuppställningen efterföljdes av konceptgenerering, där koncept togs fram både för maskinbeklädnaden och för montageplats. Koncepten utvärderades därefter mot kriterierna och ett antal koncept gick vidare och vidareutvecklades. Vidareutvecklingen gick ut på att förtydliga koncepten, bland annat med hjälp avhandskissning och 3D-modellering. Utöver detta gjordes övergripande kostnadskalkyler samt enklare prototyper. En sista utvärdering av de kvarvarande koncepten utfördes därefter i nära samråd med InterSystem. De koncept som gick vidare utvecklades ytterligare och kompletta 3D-modeller togs fram, likaså en fullskalig prototyp av maskinbeklädnaden. Arbetet har resulterat i en helt ny, betydligt mer lättmonterad konstruktion av maskinbeklädnaden samt en ergonomisk monteringsjigg för att möjliggöra snabb och effektiv montering av maskinbeklädnaden.

    I denna rapport presenteras ett examensarbete där syftet är att komma på en lösning till ett båtpentry där kunden som köper båten ska kunna anpassa sitt pentry med att välja olika kombinationer på vad kunden själv vill ha i sitt båtpentry. Arbetet har utförts tillsammans med uppdragsgivaren Christian Dejevik, konsult på C Dejevik Engineering AB där han konstruerar fritidsbåtar för modern båtproduktion. Han i sin tur har fått uppdraget från Nimbus Boats Sweden AB där jag har suttit på deras kontor i Göteborg och arbetat med projektet. Examensarbetet har i sin tur genomförts på Högskolan i Halmstad under våren 2016 och omfattar 7.5 högskolepoäng. Målet med detta projekt är att utifrån det valda konceptet ta fram en lösning till Nimbus problem gällande kundanpassningen på båtpentryt som ska kunna passa in i en ny nimbusbåt. Produkten ska i sin tur designmässigt passa in i båten och med den resterande inredningen som redan finns så att hela båten bildar en helhetskänsla där kunden ska känna sig som hemma. Arbetet inleddes med ett möte med uppdragsgivaren där idéer bollades för att så tidigt som möjligt komma på lite olika idéer på hur man snabbt och på bästa sätt skulle kunna komma vidare på detta projekt. Under projektets gång så har en konstruktionsmetod använts vilket har lett projektet framåt i rätt riktning. En prototyp i datormiljö har skapats i programvaran SolidWorks där produkten även anpassats tillsammans med den resterande båten. Renderingar har gjorts i SolidWorks och Keyshot 5. Photoshop har använts för finjusteringar på bilderna. Några av de färdiga ritningarna som kan användas vid en eventuell tillverkning är bifogade i rapporten.
