    Abstract [en]

    Traceability is an important concern in projects that span different engineering domains. In such projects, traceability can be used across the engineering lifecycle and therefore is multi-domain, involving heterogeneous models. We introduce the concept and challenges of multi-domain traceability and explain how it can be used to support traceability scenarios. We describe how to build a multi-domain traceability framework using Model-Driven Engineering. The approach is illustrated in the context of the safety-critical systems engineering domain where multi-domain traceability is required to underpin certification arguments.

    Abstract [en]

    Requirements traceability is an important mechanism for managing verification, validation and change impact analysis challenges in system engineering. Numerous model-based approaches have been proposed to support requirements traceability, but significant challenges remain, including finding the appropriate level of granularity for modelling traceability and coping with the lack of uniformity in requirements management tools. This paper argues for an agile modelling approach to managing requirements traceability and, in this context, proposes a domain/project-specific requirements traceability modelling approach. The preliminary approach is illustrated briefly in the context of the safety-critical systems engineering domain, where agile traceability from functional and safety requirements is necessary to underpin certification. © 2012 ACM.

    Abstract [en]

    The thesis covers a new navigation algorithm for UAV to fly through several given GPS coordinates without any human interference. The UAV first gets its current position from GPS receiver via Bluetooth connection with the navigator computer. With this GPS point, it draws an optimal trajectory to next destination. During the flight, the navigator computer issues the information about which direction to turn and how much to turn. This information will be used to steer the airplane servos.

    The algorithm is programmed in Java LeJOS. It uses built-in Java classes about GPS and Bluetooth. The main computer, where the navigation program runs, is a LEGO Mindstorms NXT and it is used a GPSlim240 from HOLUX as a GPS receiver.

    Examensarbetet undersöker om det är möjligt att utföra en nivåmätning där underlaget är ojämnt med en begränsad budget och ändå få ett tillförlitligt resultat.För att kunna testa det så används tre stycken ultraljud sensorer i ett skåp som simulerar en container. Varje sensor utför mätningen och sedan filtreras värdena. Hela systemet filtreras sedan med ytterligare ett filter och då blir noggrannheten ca 4 cm från den riktiga fyllnaden. Miljöpåverkan skulle bli mindre om det framtagna systemet installerades i alla containrar vid de miljöstationer som finns i Sverige. Lastbilarna som ska tömma innehållet behöver aldrig köra till en ha lvtom container vilket även drar ner kostnaderna för miljöstationerna. För att kontrollera vilka containrar som behöver tömmas har en hemsida skapats där fyllnaden visas.

    Abstract [en]

    Feature set decomposition through cluster-based partitioning is the subject of this study. Approach is applied for the detection of mild laryngeal disorder from acoustic parameters of human voice using random forest (RF) as a base classier. Observations of sustained phonation (audio recordings of vowel /a/) had clinical diagnosis and severity level (from 0 to 3), but only healthy (severity 0) and mildly pathological (severity 1) cases were used. Diverse feature set (made of 26 variously sized subsets) was extracted from the voice signal. Feature-and decision-level fusions showed improvement over the best individual feature subset, but accuracy of fusion strategies did not differ signicantly. To boost accuracy of decision-level fusion, unsupervised decomposition for ensemble design was proposed. Decomposition was obtained by feature-space re-partitioning through clustering. Algorithms tested: a) basic k-Means; b) non-parametric MeanNN; c) adaptive anity propagation. Clustering by k-Means signicantly outperformed feature- and decision-level fusions.

    Abstract [en]

    Multivariate permutation-based energy test of equal distributions is considered here. Approach is attributable to the emerging field of ε-statistics and uses natural logarithm of Euclidean distance for within-sample and between-sample components. Result from permutations is enhanced by a tail approximation through generalized Pareto distribution to boost precision of obtained p-values. Generalization from two-sample case to multiple samples is achieved by combining p-values through meta-analysis. Several strategies of varied statistical power are possible, while a maximum of all pairwise p-values is chosen here. Proposed approach is tested on several morphometric and chemometric data sets. Each data set is additionally transformed by principal component analysis for the purpose of dimensionality reduction and visualization in 2D space. Variable selection, namely, sequential search and multi-cluster feature selection, is applied to reveal in what aspects the groups differ most.

    Morphometric data sets used: 1) survival data of house sparrows Passer domesticus; 2) orange and blue varieties of rock crabs Leptograpsus variegatus; 3) ontogenetic stages of trilobite species Trimerocephalus lelievrei; 4) marine phytoplankton species Prorocentrum minimum.

    Chemometric data sets used: 1) essential oils composition of medicinal plant Hyptis suaveolensspecimens; 2) chemical information of olive oil samples; 3) elemental composition of biomass ash; 4) exchangeable cations of earth metals in forest soil samples.

    Statistically significant differences between groups were successfully indicated, but the selection of variables had a profound effect on the result. Permutation-based energy test and it’s multi-sample generalization through meta-analysis proved useful as an unbalanced non-parametric MANOVA approach. Introduced solution is simple, yet flexible and powerful, and by no means is confined to morphometrics or chemometrics alone, but has a wide range of potential applications.     Abstract [en]

    The main aim of my project is to develop a hardware implementation of the electronic waterheater by choosing different components and minimize the errors in the same. I have consideredseveral options depending on the availability of components, cost, reliability, implementation,financial budget, specification and thinking about the professional technical skills required. Inthis project I designed and implemented, an AVR micro controller based water temperaturemeasurement system using Atmega328p microcontroller.The idea of the project came from a company called Relek production AB, Sweden and theydevelop and supply electrical equipment for heating: such as electric boilers, under floor heatingboilers, IR heaters, emergency power plants, power monitors, etc. Now they want to develop anew version of electronic water heater and according to their specification.The microcontroller (Atmega328p) based temperature control system is used in this project forproviding better functioning of the system and will also serve the following purposes.1) As there will be less usage of energy as it is more energy efficient.2) The microcontroller along with temperature sensor decides when the heater shouldturn on/off.With this project I have designed the schematic diagram by using Eagle Autodesk PCB CADprogram. The seven-segment display is used in this project to show the current temperature. Atemperature sensor (LM35) is used in this project to sense the temperature and give thesemeasured values to the microcontroller. The temperature measurement and heater control areprocessed using C++ program.I have connected the circuit as per the schematic diagram and programed the microcontroller,interfacing all the major components like 7 segment display, temperature sensor, 2 pushbuttons(for manually incrementing and decrementing the set point in the program), and optoisolator (tosense the output from microcontroller and control the heater through thyristor).

    Abstract [en]

    Vehicles can end up in unplanned visits to workshops due to the driver not checking the vehicle status before using it in traffic. There are many factors not only caused by the environment but also due to the lack of tools that simplify or reminds about beforehand inspections. The purpose of this project was to introduce a smart-phone application that can display the health state (or related parameters) of a vehicle in a brief way and indicate if a part or function of the truck is not working properly. There are six functions in the application. Function status and function fault codes can display information about vehicles by giving two-dimensional plots about vehicle data, while function VSR displays some information in the form of text. Also, the user can submit their feedback through function comment. Function position is designed to give the users specific perspectives on an imported map based on their different user identity. Function check reminds about inspections that must be made before setting out on a driving mission. The application allows bus drivers and managers to continuously monitor different vehicle parameters with a statistical summary over time, as well as providing a method for following-up that drivers perform basic checks on the vehicle before it is taken into traffic.

    Abstract [en]

    The aim of this project has been to examine the possibility to implement a doppler radar for use by cyclists in traffic with the radar component TRX_024_06 from Silicon Radar. The main idea is that the radar component should be part of a warning system that makes the user aware of traffic in the direction behind the bicykle.

    A doppler radar has been implemented with TRX_024_06, an USB-connected A/D-converter (NI USB-6216), active filters, amplifiers and a laptop with a student version of LabView installed.

    The experiments performed shows the properties of TRX_024_06 when placed indoors and in traffic. The signal processing is done by a program made in LabView.

    The parameters of interest has been the speed and direction of the veichles located behind the bicykle.

    An attempt to design printed Yagi-Uda antennas for transmission and reception of radiowaves has also been made. These have been printed on a circuit board and tested with a network analyser and with the radar component.

    Behovet av elektricitet blir allt viktigare i dagens samhälle. Runt om i världen finns än idag platser där tillgängligheten till det fasta elnätet är begränsad. Oftast är det platser som ligger avlägset och terrängen gör det ekonomiskt oförsvarbart att ansluta sig till det befintliga elnätet. Det kan vara platser som fjäll, öar och skogsområden. På dessa platser används ett fristående elsystem som står för elförsörjningen. Det allra vanligaste systemet är ett hybridsystem som använder sig av två eller flera energikällor vanligtvis en förnyelsebar och en kompletterande fossil energikälla.

    Examensarbetet som görs i samarbete med Arise Windpower AB går ut på att energieffektivisera och undersöka ett befintligt fristående elsystem som används som vindmätarutrustning, SODAR. Detta ska göras utifrån tre huvudaspekter, lågt underhåll, låg driftkostnad och hög driftsäkerhet. Projektgruppen har genomfört en omfattande energianalys på systemet för att se vart i systemet man kan göra energieffektiviseringar.

    För att komma fram till systemets brister och ge förslag på olika åtgärder har projektgruppen besökt objektet för att få en överblick hur systemet är kopplat och vilka komponenter som ingår. Systemets energiflöde har noggrant mätts upp med flera olika verktyg och sammanställts i tabeller och diagram för att få en tydlig bild över energiflödet. För att genomföra detta har solcellernas teoretiska årsgenerering beräknas utifrån ett webbaserat kalkyleringsprogram. Dieselgeneratorns totala drifttid loggas i systemet och den informationen har projektgruppen tagit del av för att sammanställa och beräkna den tillförda energin.SODAR är ett meteorologiskt instrument för att mäta vindhastigheter och vindens karakteristik. En högtalare sänder ut akustiska ljudpulser och en mottagare analyserar retursignalen. En dator behandlar sedan signalen och beräknar vindhastigheten.

    SODAR används främst inom vindkraftprojektering men även på flygplatser för att mäta turbulensgraden i luften. Meteorologer använder sig av denna mätutrustning för att förutspå kommande väderleksrapporter med hjälp av vind, temperatur samt ändringar i luftens kemiska sammansättning. Vid förstudien av ett vindkraftsprojekt placeras en SODAR ut på den tänkta platsen under minst ett år för att få så tillförlitliga mätvärden som möjligt. Mätutrustningen är enkel att flytta då hela systemet är inbyggt i en vanlig släpvagn.

    Resultatet från analysen visade en låg batteriverkningsgrad. Huvudslutsatsen för att energieffektivisera systemet är att kontrollera batteristatusen samt optimera laddningsförloppet. Detta kan göras genom att reglera laddningsspänningen beroende på omgivningstemperaturen. För att uppnå ett billigare energipris i systemet kan SODAR:n kompletteras med ett småskaligt vindkraftverk alternativt en bränslecell istället för dagens dieselgenerator.

    In this project a home-automation-solution is developed that wirelessly can control an existing wall switch with an application from a smart device. The purpose of the project is to develop a new solution that doesn’t require any electrical knowledge to mount the solution. Exiting solutions for controlling a switch require a module that is connected in series with the switch. The project will develop a module that can be mounted next to the selected wall switches to control them without electrical connection to the AC-voltage of the switch. Instead there is a servo that physically press the switch that is controlled. The servo motor is controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth Low Energy using an Android application, thus, a force is applied to the switch to turn on or off. A rechargeable lithium battery of 3.7 volts powers the whole module. Therefore, a "power-board" was developed that step up the voltage to 5 V. There are also components on the board that manage battery charging via microUSB. The Android application communicates via a Bluetooth Low Energy module that is mounted on a CPU board and has been developed and specifically manufactured to fit into the project. Both the power-board and processor-board is developed from own drawings and PCB layouts, and made with a manual etching method. The chassis has also been designed and manufactured with a 3D printer. The chassis holds all circuit boards, battery and a mount for the servo. The result is a working prototype that can be mounted on a switch and then operate the switch within the range of BLE. The prototype has a run time of each charging cycle of about 60 days under conditions that it is operated, on average, three times per day.
