Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The present study is based on the idea that it is important to study the learning processes through social media and internet related to health because many of us use the Internet on a daily basis as a communication channel for health information. Aim: The aim of this study was to create awareness of the role that interactive tech- nology plays for upper secondary school students learning about health. The ques- tions: How do young people perceive and describe the concept health? What in social media and the Internet can be seen as a support in a learning process about health? How are the young people critical to the information they find on social media and the Internet? Method: The scientific basis for the study is hermeneutics and social constructivism. The study was qualitative with three focus group inter- views with a selection of young people in secondary school age. Based on the col- lected material a content analysis was made, that was based on three predefined themes that were due in the three questions. Theory: The theoretical framework used in this essay is based on three theories, sociocultural perspective on learning, habitus, capital, field and theory of health literacy. Result: The results showed that health is seen as a wide subject and balance, individual health and social health was that three main components. The rapid availability of information, and other peo- ple's images that can be perceived as motivation are seen as a support in a learning process regarding health. The result, also indicates that the young people possess a health literaturistic knowledge, to understand and evaluate information in a way that promotes their health.
