Abstract [en]
When a company wants to achieve success it does merely have to satisfy customers, it has to do better than competitors, hence competitive analysis is a main concern developing strategies. The success is not a permanent phenomenon in changing and increasingly competitive markets. Where the smaller companies before lost out to the bigger competitors just solely based on price, they now face competition on other attributes such as quality. The large corporations are taking more and more market share from the mainstreas companies because they offer more value for al ower price, therefore earning them the name "value players".
