Abstract [sv]
This is a gender-study based on Yvonne Hirdman’s theory about gender-roles and equality between sexes when it comes to child-upbringing and house-holding. In this study three years of the parenting magazine Vi föräldrar will be studied. Central for this study is the father-role concerning child upbringing and his attempt to help with house-holding jobs. The central question in this essay is how Vi föräldrar represents the role of “the good father” and how this role has changed from 1968 until 2002. Is there, like Hirdman says in her theory, a hierarchy noticeable which can be seen as a result of gender-roles? My conclusion is that Yvonne Hirdman’s theory still exists in our society. Society still divides occupations into being male- or female. Nevertheless some changes did appear during 1988 and 2002. Characteristics which were strictly female year 1968 and 1988 are accepted to be both male and female year 2002.
