2005 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]
The aim of the study was to examine whether teachers` feedback are related to students´intrinsic motivation in physical education. Researchers are in disagreement when it comes to how much research there are that has examined feedback. Their disagreement can be described by the fact that feedback appers in various context, such as: coach-athlete relationsship, leadreship, style, communication, and motivational climate. In this study, schoolchilfren att upper secaondary level, taking the B-course in physical education completed a questionnaire containing 14 statements regarding their perceptions of their teacher´s feddback. Results show that most students are neutral to many statements in the study except the statements referring to teachers´negative non-verbal expressions such as rolling ones eyes, shaking one´s head or looking angry in response to a poor performance. The results from the study did not clearly indicate the importance of how teachers´feedback influenced students´motivation, as found in previous research and discussed in the theoretical background. However, the findings of the study may have important implications for teachers related to maximizing students´motivation in physical education.
