Abstract [sv]

The Swedish government wants to realize the idea of environmental thinking in Swedish homes [1]. To realize that idea the structure of our energy system has to be changed. One way to do this is to implement windpower in the energy system. The purpose of this project was to study the process of establishing wind turbines and also to locate a wind turbine localization, which can be realized in future. We want to show that the Swedish east coast has potential for expansion of wind turbines. The choice of location is of great importance when you are planning for an establishment. The first priority was hence to check the influence on the environment of the wind turbines. Afterward we prioritized to check the economic condition. This project involves an attempt to get permission to build wind turbines. In this case the county administration board in Kalmar makes that decision. The areas we have chosen are north and south of Södra Cell in Mönsterås. The area consists of industrial activity and forestry. We have suggested two different localizations and two different designs of establishment at each place. The county administration board demands that an environmental impact assessment will be made when establishing wind turbines. A land based establishment could influence land, humans and animals. Influences on humans consist of noises, shadows and will change the landscape. Bats and birds are the animals that wind turbines can have negative influences on. To get an agreement of renting land is a demanding and problematic process. Field studies and calculations show that these areas have favourable wind conditions. The energy calculations show that the chosen areas are good in economic aspects. This work shows that the east coast of Sweden has unexploited areas where wind turbines can be established. The process of applying permission is very resource demanding. To increase the expansion of wind turbines the process of applying permission should be simplified. We have, by this project, begun our way to realize our idea.
