Abstract [sv]

The purpose with the paper is to develop an application that communicates with NetBiters® over the protocol XMPP. This paper discusses methods, theories and development behind the mobile application “Netbiter Viewer” which is a prototype client for Instant Messaging. Technologies that have been needed to develop the application are J2ME, XMPP and XML. The prototype is configured to work with CLDC 1.0 and MIDP 1.0 but is even compatible with later versions. Features which are implemented in the prototype are login, communication with the Jabber server over GPRS, add new units to the roster and send specific commands to the NetBiters®. The assigner of the project has been IntelliCom Innovation AB.
