Abstract [sv]

The purpose of this project was to create an application which connects the functionality of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) with that of databases. The significant characteristic of the concept was that the program should be generic, i.e. it should work in as many different working environments as possible. The main problem to be solved was how the application would be able to adapt itself to the working environment. It was decided that the user would have to input a series of parameters and a few SQL-queries, tailoring the application to his or her own workplace. Following the suggestions of the master thesis, this was taken care of in a separate configuration-part of the program. This part requires previous database experience. The settings will then be used to dynamically create a user-interface, in the user-part of the software, suitable to the users needs. The result is an application that can configure and manage many different work environments. However, user-evaluations have shown that the configuration-part of the program is difficult to use and understand.
