This report examines the ability to detect package errors with sound. The request were to detect errors down to 0.5 millimetres length error and to detect holes and cuts. Today there already is blow stations in Tetra Pak’s filling machine for cleaning purpose. The aim was to use these stations for the control method. The idea of the project was to determine if the frequency was different for a whole package in compare to a defect package. In Matlab a programme was constructed to sort out the defect packages. A common problem throughout the project was that the frequencies were not stable. The results were that all the packages with 3.5 millimetres length error were sorted out. Smaller length errors gave less than 100% results in sorting out defect packages. 1 millimetre length error where sorted out to 65 %. No packages with cut defects were sorted out, while almost every package with hole were sorted out.
