A study of Swedish Students' Mastery of English Words and Idioms
Halmstad University, School of Humanities (HUM).
2005 (English)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [en]
The present study is based on results from a test given to students on different levels at a Swedish upper secondary school and a Swedish university, and it investigates students’ mastery of words and idioms. The main purpose is to investigate and compare the results from the different levels, and to compare students’ knowledge of words versus idioms. The results show that the vocabulary and idiom knowledge among the upper secondary students is rather low. On the other hand, the knowledge among second term university students is comparatively good.
