EU:s migrationspolitik och de mänskliga rättigheterna
Halmstad University, School of Social and Health Sciences (HOS).
2004 (Swedish)Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor)Student thesis
Abstract [sv]
In 1999 the Heads of State and Government in the European Union agreed to develop an open and secure European Union, fully committed to the obligations of the Geneva Refugee Convention and other relevant human rights instruments. The basic aim of this study is to analyse in what degree the European Union takes the human rights into consideration in its development of the common migration policy. The theoretical approach has its foundation in an ideal model where the human rights are in the focus. The empirical material mainly contains conventions dealing with human rights and also treaties and conventions regarding the EU legislation. The conclusions drawn are that the European Union not fully takes the human rights into consideration in the development of the common migration policy.
