Abstract [sv]
Bearing currents in variable-frequency drives has been a problem of variable size since the use of modern pulse width modulated drives started. The currents eroding influence on bearings are well documented. Variable-frequency drives are currently used in many different applications e.g. pumps, ventilation systems, electrical powered cars and overhead cranes. Södra Cell in Värö has given us the project to do a theoretical description of bearing currents and find techniques which will minimise or eliminate the problem. The mitigation techniques would result in savings in maintenance and lower the risk of unplanned production stops.
