Abstract [sv]
The purpose of this thesis is to examine, from a Supply Chain Management perspective, how companies coordinate their different internal functions. The investigation is founded on interviews with four Swedish companies and on extensive literature studies. The result of this research is a model which describes the different methods these companies use to coordinate their internal functions. A general result of this research is that companies strive to create an overall view of their organisation as a step toward increasing their inter-functional coordination. Moreover, the study reveals four main categories, Process orientation, Organisational structure, Communication and Antecedents, with adherent and underlying factors, that companies work with in order to create inter-functional coordination. Some of these underlying factors, which contribute to inter-functional coordination, are; Flat organisation, Liasons groups, Open communication, Information systems, Informal communication and Mutual goals.
