Abstract [en]
The aim of this study is to compare memory concerned with words with memory concerned with pictures in Swedish and English. Furthermore, the aim is to make a comparison between memory concerned with different word classes in Swedish and English to see if they follow the order for first language acquisition. The tests are performed on students at the Swedish gymnasium. One group is tested on memory concerned with words, one on memory concerned with pictures, and one group is tested on memory concerned with word classes. The results show that memory is better for pictures than for words in Swedish, but that memory is better for words than for pictures in English. In the test concerned with memory for word-classes the order for first language acquisition is, with a few exceptions, followed in both Swedish and English.
