Abstract [en]
This essay looks at the transfer from the latter part of the Swedish compulsory school to the Swedish upper secondary school in the subject of English. The essay discusses a current ongoing project in the municipality of Halmstad, the Grundgy project. The project aims at individualizing the education for the students. This study of the project in the subject of English has been made by making examinations among students at the upper secondary school in order to receive their point of view and opinion of the project. Furthermore, examinations have been made to find out if the project leaders’ goal with the project has been achieved. In addition to this various literatures have been looked into to see if a project like this has any support in curriculum and in literature. The project meets the demands of the curriculum and the project will be extended into a conversation course in English during the spring term 2003. A majority of the students state that they are very satisfied with the venture of the project as are the project leaders.
