Abstract [sv]
In this project has an USB communication been implemented in programmable hardware. The hardware that is used is a FPGA part of a System on Chip circuit from Atmel. The communication goes by the USB circuit PDIUSBD11 from Philips. The USB circuits I2C interface is used for communication with the FPGA. The communication is used to control the speed on a DC motor from a PC. A Visual Basic program is used to show the engines current and set-value. The most important part of the project is to implement the USB communication in programmable logic. When implementing the USB communication some problems occurred, because there was deficiencies in the documentation of the USB circuit. After a lot of tests on the hardware the enumeration was finished, then data could be sent and received to a Visual Basic program. To control the speed on the motor a pulswithmodulation have been implemented in the hardware. By implement the USB communication in hardware instead of software, the pressure on the microprocessor in the SoC circuit can be relieved. In the future this can be used when the microprocessor is needed for other tasks.
