Abstract [en]
Abstract In this technical report, position systems for counting rotations will be discussed. It is intended to give some knowledge about the technology available and a few examples of how it can be implemented. A rough prize investigation, advantages and disadvantages with different sensor systems will also be within the report. This report is mainly focused on sensor types that are of interest to Albany Door System. Only two sensor types will be discussed thorough, while the others will be discussed from the aspect of functionality and not in detail. This approach is taken because it’s currently suitable for the company in their present situation. The market for microprocessors is large and doing a comparison between different brands and models won’t be done in this report. However the advantages of the chosen processor type will be mentioned. It should be noted that the processor model currently used in the prototype should be exchanged to a cheaper model within the same family. The reason for having this relatively expensive processor type is that it is suitable in development and testing cycle.
