Abstract [sv]

In today’s IT community the requirements on fast and easily accessible information are increasing. To provide for the market’s needs many companies are developing wireless technology. One of these companies is Free2move in Halmstad, which gave us the assignment to develop a web-based system for department stores. The system will operate on Personal Digital Assistants (PDA:s) with Bluetooth. Free2move has developed a Bluetooth LAN Accesspoint, which is used to provide wireless communication between the system devices. The thought is that the system eventually will replace or complement the existing computer terminals inside a department store. Both staff members and customers can draw benefit from the system. The core of the system is a database generated by MySQL, an SQL-database server. The web sites themselves are constructed with regular HTML (HyperText Markup Language) combined with the script language PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor). The entire database system resides on an Apache web server.
