Abstract [sv]
The purpose of this bachelor project is to implement a VGA interface on an FPGA using VHDL. This interface will contribute to the existing IP-core library that is used for SoC-design in the course System on Chip design given at Halmstad University. The interface is connected to a soft processor (MicroBlaze) which is running on the FPGA via an On Chip Peheripal Bus. The monitor is connected directly to the FPGA via a VGA connec-tor. With this IP-core based VGA interface the user will be able to present data from the FPGA directly to a monitor. This report contains different technologies regarding choice of monitor standards. It in-cludes how the interface is created to communicate with the OPB-bus and the monitor. Problems and solutions are also discussed in the report. The result of the project is a IP-core based VGA interface implemented in VHDL, which is a component in the IP-core library.
