Abstract [sv]
The Swedish curriculum, says that everbody that passes upper secondary school have to be able to express them self both verbally and in writing. They should also have an understanding för mathematics and not only be able to do the calculation. Lots of litterature also tells us that language, mathematics and learning go hand in hand. The purpose of this survey is to investigate how some pupils at Falkenbergs gymnasiskola feel about writing down how they think about a mathematical problem during the time they are trying to solve it, i:e journal writing. Journal writing is a method that has been tried in many other countries in different classes and stages. The paper also discusses whether journal writing could be a good method to advance further towards to the typical goals of the Swedish national curriculum. The group of pupils received several problems during four weeks in the spring three weeks in the fall. In between, a group interview was carried out.
