Abstract [sv]
This thesis describes the design of a new controller to a container truck at Kalmar Industries. Their problem has been to control the movement of a loadbeam so they could raise and lower it smoothly. The control system is built on a computer. Existing controller is defective and operates a bit jerky with heavy loads. Other functional commercial solutions could be used but their structure becomes complex and more expensive. To solve the problem an identification of the existing controller and topical actuator has been done. Several identification methods were used giving a more reliable result. The new controller system is developed through well-tried methods and has been verified by test driving on a real container truck. The mathematical models on Kalmars controller and actuator have been identified. On the basis of this a new control structure was developed and verified by test driving. The tests have shown that our controller is faster and gives a better control of the load. All requirements from the company were fulfilled and this project has been successful.
