Abstract [en]
This thesis is done in co-operation with Volvo IT. Our work has been to describe a method for how to create a beamsystem in Catia V5. Such a model does already exist in Catia V4 but since Volvo have transferred to Catia V5, a new model was needed. The model is going to be used for FEM- calculation, so that an optimal beamstructure can be achieved. Our starting point has been a wireframe from Catia V4 from which we have been able to create an identical wireframe in Catia V5. A wireframe is constructed of points and lines, which are displaying the structure of the beamsystem. On this wireframe surfaces are added, which have the same shape as the beams' profiles. The finished model had to be adaptable so that it could be used for different car models.
