Abstract [sv]
Today, mergers and acquisitions are common in all industries. Globalization and a pursuit for economies of scale are two of the key drivers to mergers and acquisitions. But the truth is that most of them fail to meet set expectations and goals. Corporate entrepreneurship is known as a tool to re-vitalize mature businesses by making the organization for example more innovative and more pro-active. Our case study describes an integration process, from an entrepreneurial perspective, between two merging companies and exemplifies the impact of corporate entrepreneurship on the integration process. We have found that cross functional team work reduces the emotional distances that might be present between the employees. Individuals and divisions, who have a positive attitude towards experimenting also tends to have a positive attitude towards the integration process. Divisions that encourage learning and an exchange of knowledge are more able to make the right decisions for the sake of the newly merged company. Our last findings are that clear goals and visions are crucial for the employees’ motivation.
