Abstract [sv]
In recent years markets have become truly global at the same time as customers demands require products with higher quality, delivery performance and lower price. The competition has increased which has forced companies to a greater extent depend on its suppliers and customers, the supply chain. As a result, it has become more important to optimise the internal organisation and also look after and develop close relations to the actors in the supply chain. To succeed in this matter, its necessary to pay attention for the overall picture. Supply Chain Management is a method of working which contains several theories and rules how to organise companies to support each other in a supply chain. Though the authors have noticed that there exist difficulties in introducing some of Supply Chain Management components, the matter has not earlier been investigated. This study aims to identify these difficulties and find out their consequences. The study is founded on Supply Chain Management theories and case studies from three companies. The study reveals that there exist a number of different barriers concerning the introduction of Supply Chain Management. The authors have in this study identified these barriers and what consequences they may cause. The study has shown that the different aspects can be a barrier for it self and together with other factors. In some cases one barrier leads to another. The different Supply Chain Management components can sometimes mix with each other. This matter – to understand how everything comes down – has together with the identification of the barriers and their consequences, been a challenge. The authors believe that the study contributes by bringing an understanding, which complements the existing literature. The hope is also that this understanding could help companies that have introduced Supply Chain Management, or those who intend to introduce it in the future.
